Moon was a better QB than Elway. The Oilers just choked too much.

Moon on the Broncos probably wins a few Superbowls himself.

    Moon > Elway

Don't forget that Moon spent his younger years (6 seasons) in the CFL.

I don't follow it so i can't say (especially back then), but i know had someone given a spot in the NFL, he coulda been even better.

From a strictly statistical standpoint, you can see that it took him roughly 4 years to get used to the NFL and play at a high level, so its not even a fare comparison.

You guys better stop talking bad about my favorite QB growing up or I might have to "it sucks" you all!!

Elway was the man, still is. It's how he recruited big head, I mean Peyton.

And RSB, how in the hell could John Elway be 70 or what ever you said, when he won back to back Super Bowls in 1997-1998???

Because I thought for sure he was in his late 50s then too... obviously joking. I don't think about the years he played. I just look at him and he looks like he's 70.

    The guy has aged horribly.

Not sure I see the wisdom in trying to argue that Elway sucks and really mean it based on his ability and accomplishments. My God man the guy was in 5 Super Bowls (a record by the way) and has 2 rings. If his team had any kind of defense in his first three (how about the same defense Moon had in some of those Oiler years) he probably wins at least one more. Elway is also 2nd all time in career wins as a QB (2nd to Brett Favre who apparently also sucks accoring to some). P. Manning will pass Marino (147) and Elway (148) this year probably (141) and Brady will probably pass all of them in a few years (124) but that is some dang good company. Now I agree Moon was a great QB (by the way he has 102 wins which is pretty good considering his late start).

IMO wins over an extended career is about the best barometer in judging a QB. Sure in a short span of a few years a guy might have a great defense and running game or something and win games despite not being very good but these guys that put up ~10 wins on average for 15-16 years are doing pretty well. I also think SB wins are important but they don't always tell the whole story either. If a QB is good enough to get his team that far only to lose still means he did his job very well.

Now if you want to go by winning % nobody even comes close to Tom Brady's 78%. Staubach, Montana and Roethlisberger are all over 70% so I'd have to say those guys are pretty good as well. Elway's winning % is 64% but before anyone says he sucks and Moon is a much better QB consider that Moon had a winning % of only 50%.

His daughter went to UVa when I was there and she basically inherited all of his facial features... Very unfortunate for a female...

"The one thing about Elway was he was clutch and won games. He handled pressure well."
That's the definition of a great QB!

Man listen, John Elway doesn't have to be sexy, he's a man no.1, and second, he's a 2 time Super Bowl champion.
