Hope has been on the market long enough...

I wouldn't mind retaining Hope for that price tag.

I was thinking there was gonna be a when I opened this thread. I like Hope, he seems like a good dude but I don't think he gives us much. I'd rather give a younger guy a shot.

Looks to me like unless Chris Hope can convert to FS (which he can't) there's no room for him here.

 

His rookie year, Mike Griffin was saying Robert Johnson was going to be a star in the NFL... what happened to him since?

Or was Griffin just flirting?

 

At least we aren't still carrying Myron Rolle. Great guy, but I never really understood why we used a draft pick on him.

 

COuldn't agree more. He could even play some nickel. Unfortunately, many cornerbacks lose a step after 5 or 6 seasons in the league.

 

He was supposedly a second round talent before he went to egg head school.

 

We have 17 mil in CAP room and really no viable back up at SS (Campbell isn't a viable option at either S position until he spends a year there and we don't even know if they want him there or at CB). So yes, Hope is worth signing for one year at a couple mil a year IMO. He actually gives us depth at both S positions because if Griffin gets hurt Babs can move to FS and Hope can play SS. S is a very important position to have pitiful depth like we do and the draft isn't looking real good this year either.

 

Rolle was never going to be a 2nd round pick. He is slow and stiff. He was a decent college player who would have been dramatically down graded any year he came out after his work outs. On top of that he has actually been a disappointment since he couldn't even impress enough to be even a roster player who plays well on special teams.
