    Mainly our positions of need.

Its obvious we all judge potential prospects differently. Whats your criteria?

    For example,

I first look at off-the field character. Next I look at how durable the player has been over their career. Then I look at production and consistency of that production. If a players production is exceptional with few opportunities(such as Mercilus), I tend to choose that over someone who produces exceptional inconsistenly. Next athletic ability. Style comes next. Does the players style match the Titans system?

Finally I pick the highest graded player at a position of need.

From my criteria I developed this list:

    1. David DeCastro
    2. Cordy Glenn
    3. Whitney Mercilus
    4. Fletcher Cox
    5. Stephon Gilmore

This could change if Mark Barron runs well.

Just curious how others judge players.

I think you have to look at the guys they had playing round them too.

No doubt Matt Leinart looked better than he was because he had Reggie Bush, Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett, and Lendale White at the skill positions. That USC offensive line was downright scary too.

    40 time

How cool they look (Visor's is always a huge plus)
How cool their name sounds (No Bob Smith's)

    It's pretty consistent.

Nailed it here. If they don't fit the scheme drop em.

If they do then see how well they play and could play at their skilled position.

Character concerns is def a must but is the last thing I usually go to in the weeding process. It's also a deal breaker. Character concerns usually equate to about 2 things. Player 'A' may be great at the knowledge of the game and have intangibles but have character concerns. Player 'B' may be ok in those first two categories but have no character concerns. I go with player 'B'.

Truthfully, as fans, we only get access to the production and hard numbers at combines and such.

Everything else is based off of other people's opinion.

I let their play get them noticed first. If I like what I'm seeing I'll look further.

Usually how I learn about a guy is based on how good their team is or what I think the Titans might need in April. For example, I've been watching DE's and inside linemen since day-1 of last year, cause I knew we'd probably need one for 2012.

I don't overlook small schools just because they're small or 3-7, but tend to pay more attention to the SEC, Big East, ACC, etc, and winning teams.

I don't care much about 40 times and verticals. The only time I let those types of things impact my opinion is if I see them as a project player we can groom over a year or two. If he's raw his rookie year thats ok, 4th-7th rounders can sit and learn, but they must have something going for them like blazing speed or super strength.

Barron ran two 40's today. 4.5 and 4.7

And the only time I look at off the field stuff is if it's a crime, like assault or something that could land them in jail. Hard to play if you're locked up.

All college players are young and allowed to make some mistakes.

But a guy like Jake Locker was a no brainer, cause he's consumed by football, which I love about him.

    All of the above.

The player we draft (atleast earlier rounds) needs to be ideal size, butt loads of potential. I hate drafting knuckle-heads. Durability is normally huge, don't want a player whos going to be hurt all the time. Also have to look at who they were playing with/against. If they have a dominant DL, and there a DE, they'll look better (Ray Edwards effect) etc. Although one year wonders scare me... but they also can work out big like JPP. Also a plus if someone has a cool name lol.
