I think it's a bit crazy on Bud's part and clearly he is losing it. It's obvious he's going to do anything he can to win a Superbowl before he kicks the bucket. To be honest I don't think this is a terrible idea, lets think about it. I can't think of any player that knows more about playing Quarterback than Manning, I don't know of a player that is more devoted to playing Quarterback than Manning. The guy lives, eats and sleeps football, he always has and always will. It would be awesome if we can make him into a loyal Titan for life. At Bud's age he wants, perhaps, the best player to ever play the position to be influential in how his franchise is run going forward.

I sure as hell wouldn't mind if Manning was behind the scenes after his playing days are through, coaching our young Quarterbacks or evaluating players. I've had some tough things to say about Bud in the past, but not this time. He's all in and I love it. If he Manning signs I still want Mario Williams. Hass will have to be cut which will save us some against the salary cap, unless someone signs him right away, but i'm not sure how that works exactly. Manning, Mario, Wells and Dallas Clark and we could be a serious contender.

Tampa signed Vincent Jackson (55mil), Carl Nicks (47.5mil), and Eric Wright (37.5mil). Don't tell me we can't land Manning, Mario, Wells and maybe Clark.

    Quick contract law lesson:

There is no such thing as a "lifetime" contract when you are dealing with at-will employment.

Now if Peyton acquires part of the team...That's totally different.

I think now that money is in the situation (as well as part ownership?), it actually sways PM away from the Titans and into Denver's arms. I think it's a little much and a little desperate of Bud Adams. Peyton doesn't want the press to know that money essentially had everything to do with his signing with Tennessee. It looks bad to me.

I would imagine the contract would be largely up to Peyton, in other words, he would probably have the option to do what he wants. I doubt he would be tied into a "lifetime" contract I would think Bud is offering him the choice to stay with the franchise for life.

If this does happen and Peyton gets a sweet job upstairs after he's done playing, let me just say, I do NOT want him as GM. He can have Reinfeldts gig or another CEO type of thing, but Ruston Webster is a keeper.

Yeah. It WILL NOT be GM or OC.

It will be a permanent gig. like president of something. You can fire your GM and OC in a heartbeat. He won't get a job that is easily let go.
