My first reason is because I think Finny is VERY overrated. His best season came back in 2008 when Haynesworth was dominating at DT and he benefited from the pressure AH provided.

Finny thinks he's better than he is and because of the great 2008 season he's going to command big money, because a lot of teams still are going by the reputation he earned then. The reason I like Routt better is because he will be cheaper that what Finny gets, and can at least, in my opinion play as good as Finny. Jenkins on the other hand could come in and be a shut down type of corner and be better than Finny in his rookie season. He's that good. He completely shut down A.J. Green and Julio Jones when he played at Florida.

I don't see Jenkins available at #20. After his combine/pro days teams will be all over his nuts. I see him going to the 'Boys in the 1st.

Ok if this is true then we must draft Janoris (if he's there at 20, of course)

1st part sucked because im pretty sure all i've heard is people talking about his performance this season.....

2nd part i can deal with but would the staff put him out to one of the starting two corners from day one? also agree that he wont be there at 20 after the combine....

People are talking about him because his contract is up for one. They're also talking about him because he's one of the more recognizable names on the team. I don't recall anyone saying after any game this year, "Finny won the game for us" or "That play Finny made was awesome." But if you think back to this season, can you name one time when he made a play that was game changing? The only play I can think of him making was the interception in the PIT game. He played well, and made the plays he was supposed to, but he's going to want top tier CB money and he's not worth that and other teams will be willing to pay that because like I said, he's living off of the reputation he earned back in '08. We could draft or sign someone for cheaper who could do the same thing.

As much as I really like Finnegan, you're right. He's not worth top dollar. If it were to come down to paying him or Routt $10 Million per year then I say go with Finnegan. BUT if Finnegan wants more than that and we can get Routt for considerably less then we should also go that route instead.

Finnegan had incredible games this year. When he moved to the slot in nickel, which was quite often, his coverage was incredibly tight and he had a few games with multiple pass break ups. Now that's helping a team!! If you think we can get someone to come in and perform at that level.....it's not going to happen. We will have to improve in other areas to make up for this loss. That's a fact!

Would you rather have Finny and a second rate DE or would you rather have Mario Williams and find a new NB? It very well could come down to that. I feel better about getting production from a rookie CB or cheap vet CB who is asked to play the NB spot than I do a rookie DE or second rate FA DE giving us a bunch of production.

even if we lose finny i do not think there is enough of a need at CB to spend our first pick on one. McCourty was VERY good in coverage this year, Verner is a capable starer, Hawkins played well when he got his chance, and campbell has a very high ceiling. IMO if we lose finny all that means is that we should spend more money/picks on the DL. A good DL can compensate for a lackluster secondary.

Finnys talent and coverage skills can be replaced but finding another Leader that is such a perfect scheme fit will be very hard
