With the afc south being weakend with the jags, colts going through coaching/rebuilding changes,it seems the titans should sieze the opportunity.Maybe instead of trying to patch holes all over a defense that is young and going to get younger, use the draft and free agency to make the offense even more potent.Aside from mario williams, there dosen't seem to be much defensive help out there.Looking around the afc,the raven and steeler defenses are starting to get a little old,the patriot defense isn't that great. It would be a great time to add a serious threat opposite britt. It's become a passing/scoring league.Top 2 seeds packers /patriots

The Jags have talent and could be much improved next year with a new staff and direction. The Colts could turn out to be solid as well if Manning can return to form. He's put up points without his top guys before, don't think he can't do it again.

I think trying to outscore a team every week is a recipe for disaster. Defense still wins football games too and depending on opponents and matchups, we'll need our defense to show up if we want to be true contenders.

I think Locker starting instantly boosts the offense as well as fixing the O-Line issues (thus improving the run game).

Ending on a positive though, I don't think we have that many "holes" to fix. I think compared to most clubs we're in really good shape. We played toe-to-toe with some of the leagues best and we've got a young group of guys.

The whole "defense wins games" is starting to sound like a thing of the past. The top 2 seeds have the last 2 ranked defenses in the league. Offense wins games. Defense keeps you in games, Fisher mentality.

That being said, I don't think we have a QB or coach that allows us to be an elite passing offense. With what we've got, we should probably try to build as balanced a team as possible. That means improving the biggest weaknesses first. That means the two lines need to be fixed first, then the secondary, then RB/WR.

The 49ers are #2 seed and they have Alex Smith as their starting QB...

Yeah having an offense helps but I'd rather have a better defense.

Let's talk after the Super Bowl.

For the record, the Patriots haven't beaten a team with a winning record and while the Packer's defense might be last in yardage, they're 14th in scoring.

If team A has a great offense, and great defense...and team B has a great offense, and bad defense, who wins?

You need to work to be efficient at both.

2 teams out of the entire playoffs.....in fact, most defensive minded teams are in the playoffs this year. I do agree, I would like to have a balanced team leaning more towards defense.

    Completely hypothetical,

But if the Titans could sign ONE of these free agents, who would you sign:

Mario Williams, LaRon Landry, or Nick Hardwick?

Chances we get either of the 3, not very good. Besides maybe Hardwick.

Its all about matchups and right now we would have CJ running,a healthy Britt on the outside,Cook streaching the middle, and imagine having another threat at wr opposite britt who could take the top off of the defense and putting Washington in the slot.1 guy would make us pretty hard to defend.I'm just not sure that guy is hawkins, williams or mariani.I'm sure we are going to build a strong D eventually under Gray

As bad as Amano was this year I'd have to go with Hardwick. Derrick Morgan gets a bye this year cause he's still not 100%. I love Landry but Mark Barron could fall right into our lap during the draft
