A lot of you have been using this as Munchak's main playing chip. I just don't see it.

We won 1 game we probably shouldn't have, vs Baltimore. And then we lost THREE games we should have won vs Cincy (17-7 at halftime, gotta put them away), @ Indy (winless), @ Jacksonville (c'mon).

We had one of the easiest schedules in the league and we'll still at best be 9-7 and might not make the playoffs.

This was a better than 6-10 team last season despite what the record shows, but even at 6-10 we've won just 2 more games with an easier schedule and no major changes to the team?

We upgraded at QB according to a lot of you, so isn't that justification for the extra wins? The defense has been bad, but not as bad as last season.

How did we Overachieve? We didn't. We lost 3 games we should have won, we had one of the easiest divisions in football and we'll at best be 3-3 in it.

No matter what happens next sunday,

We underachieved. I'll let you guys speculate as to why.

    No major changes?

No starting quarterback on the roster until week 2 of training camp.
Change of almost every coach on the team who had 2 weeks of training camp and pre-season to get the team ready.
No running back at Training Camp or pre-season.
Lost our star WR for the season.
    Lost our sack leader.
    No real impact free-agents.

Yeah, no major changes on this team.

I think we have overall achieved our expectations as a whole. I don't think anyone expected us to be 8-7 at this point.

Honestly, I think we had an easy schedule. We also had a ton of injuries within our division to make a push for a division title. It seems like it was made for us to win the AFC South.

I think the early start out of the blocks raised our expectations. It did seem like we were going to compete, until Kenny Britt went down. I swear it seemed like when Britt went down it took the breath out of this team. You just can't expect to be dominate when you lose a dominate player that meant so much to this team.

But in reality, I think we did play way better than anyone expected us to play this year. So, if we don't make the playoffs, I'm going to be a mad camper, because any true fan expects and want their team to make the playoffs.

However, I'm proud of what we accomplished this year.

    Merry Christmas, Gotitan Fam...

We didn't underachieve we pretty much did exactly what we should have done. The Titans heading into this season reeked of an 8-8 team and that is exactly what we are. The fact that we are even in contention for a playoff berth astounds me. We were 6-10 last season with a bottom five offense and defense and we've improved scientifically with no offseason.

Also, it amazes me how you can like Johnson so much while he does nothing of any significance what so ever but are so very quick to call for Munchek's head when he does anything wrong.

We were an average team last season and (I thought) an average one this season so being 8-8 isn't overly surprising to me, but we have made A LOT of adjustments during the shorter off-season.

    This..

And I'll add (like many others have stated)

    - Rookie Head Coach
    - All new coaching staff (coordinators, position coaches, etc)
    - New QB (signed very late)
    - Star player holds out all of camp and 75% of preseason (and goes on to have the worst year of his career)

    - Star WR goes down 2 1/2 games into the season
    - 3 Rookies starting on defense (rounds 2 through 4)

Anything at .500 or above "overachieved".

Playoffs or no playoffs, I'm extremely satisfied with this season and more importantly, the direction this team is heading in.

How in the blue hell was our schedule easy. We played

    Baltimore - 2nd seed

    Saints - 3rd seed

    Falcons - In the Playoffs

    Pittsburgh - In the Playoffs

Houston - 1 game when Healthy and very good then, also in the Playoffs

Bengals - Rigth there in the wildcard hunt.

We had 6 really tough games, and ill even throw Cincy out since we were up. So based on that, 40% of our games were against playoff teams.

Also, we lose Kenny Britt who at the beginning of the season was already a beast. CJ has been up and down, and a rookie head coach. Our season was not easy. We also played the Panthers who damn near beat the Packers as well. I understand what your saying, but we had a decently tough schedule, and were exceeding expectations. I had us pegged at 7-9, so to get to 9-7 would be great.

We are starting three rookies on defense and that isn't even counting Klug who plays a lot and Morgan who is basically a rookie after missing almost all of last season. Going 8-7 is not easy to do in the NFL and especially for a team that has had as many changes as we have this year. Take off the homer glasses and get some perspective. Underachieving teams are the Eagles, Cowboys, Chargers and Jets but not us.

AT the start of the season, I would have guessed maybe 7 or 8 wins at the most.

After CJ's poor performance, Britt out for the season, who Matt had to work with etc, I would have thought 6 wins might be possible.

After watching the talent surprise me at times, players inconsistency, fickle coaching, runs for nothing up the middle, games we should have won etc. I believe we should have a 10-6 record.

So I will have to say we underachieved, unless we win next Sunday.

I guess its a fine line and what kind of homer or Debbie downer you happen to be to make the decision.

According to many of you that was an upgrade.
    system stayed exactly the same.

lol so? I think it's safe to say CJ still would have sucked even had he been to camp on time.

This is really the only major injury we've had which is pretty fortunate for any NFL team..

    Babin sucks.

You can't just list things and tell me they were major changes. We changed at QB, other than that, this is the exact same team that was 5-3 at the midway point last season.
