I think Ayers has been solid, but I have been disappointed in how few BIG plays he has made. He was drafted to be that LBer that can come off the edge and pressure the QB, yet he only has 2 sacks all year and very few QB pressures. Oftentimes he just gets plain stonewalled when he tries to blitz. He also hasn't forced any fumbles and has only made a few tackles for loss.

I wasn't expecting him to be James Harrison, but I was expecting him to make a few more impactful plays.

With his sack numbers in college I was expecting to see him around the QB more than he has been.

He's been most effective when they haven't asked him to do too much, just read-react and go to the football. I think in the middle part of the season they got away from it and he was given responsibilities in coverage and that hindered his ability to roam and get at the QB. It'd be nice to get a few big plays from him, and the Colts are certainly a team that he could have success against.

Its too early to say that. He is a rookie and has been very effective for our defense. He will make the big plays. He have made some good stops in previous games. Just give him some time..Derrick Morgan is who this thread should been about, he the one hasn't done anything yet

I have officially given up on Derrick morgan dude is a bust. I hated that pick i watched him get man handled by iowa's Bulaga in the bowl game that year he doesn't impress me at all.

I'm not giving up on Ayers at all. I think my expectations might have been too high. I liked the way that Jerry Gray talked about how he really loved Ayers because he had the size to hold the edge and the pass rush skills to get to the QB.

I agree about Morgan as well, but coming back from an ACL can be tough and certainly can affect your explosiveness.

So do we wait till next yr to see if these 2 highly drafted pass rushers develop or do we go after another one in FA or the draft?

I'd say wait for next year. What we need this year is an SS and a C.

Ayers has only been playing full-time in most of the defensive sub-packages since the Panthers game. He was pretty much only in on run downs for the first half of the season with McRath playing in the nickel package.

I expect to see a big jump in production next year.

Other teams respect what Ayers can do, that's why they're glad to go to 3-WR sets to get him off the field.

Well he cant get to the QB if were always rushing 3!!

All BS aside, he has played well and also made some mistakes. Next season is where we will be able to have a more accurate view of his skills.
