which is not quite a 4% ypc dropoff.

Clearly whatever the difference is it is 2011 and not QB style

I've been a huge supporter of CJ but it's very clear that something just isn't right with him. I don't believe that he's tanking it now that he's gotten his money but I do know that he isn't putting his all into it.

 

This is a quote from the link above... it's extremely telling and probably the reason that Hasselbeck has had declining success... because the gameplan is to stop him not CJ..

"Opposing defenses have taken notice of Johnson’s struggles and are game-planning him differently this season. As Johnson's career has progressed, opponents have used pre-snap sets of seven or fewer defenders more often. Johnson has only 12 rushes this season with eight or more defenders in the box.

Roughly 11 percent of Johnson’s rushes this season have been against a loaded box -- when there are more defenders in the box than there are available blockers on offense. From 2008-10, almost twenty percent of his rushes were against loaded boxes."

 

2011 and Matt Hasselbeck are kind of the point of the argument. The presence of Matt gives defenses a great reason to force us to be one dimensional. Fortunately Matt is having a great season.

The Titans are having a knack for making old QBs look good.

 

Based on most people don't lose .3 seconds in the 40 in 3 years without an injury or age. What is there to base him running a 4.5 on? The most logical answer is that he has lost some speed but not that much.

 

while I agree with you its still speculation

someone needs to put a stop watch on CJ and do some extrapolation too see if he is anywhere close to 4.3
