I think football is beyond rockabilly, rock, rap, or any other musical type; Take the music from some great movie themes that would fit the sport. Leave talentless singers out of the mix, no matter how sexy, handsome, or beautiful they may be perceived.

Are you serious? How could you not defend him? He DIDNT compare Obama to Hitler. He was just saying they were polar opposites and don't see eye to eye, exactly like he said. I didn't even know this Jr. dudes name before this week so I could care less but the media is retarded about this.

they wont let anyone do it that has strong political views.

Faith Hill does Sunday Night Football, i just hope it's not a dumb pop singer. keep it rock or country. Kid Rock ftw.

btw i hope Hank Jr writes a new song about ESPN.

Can't they just write some classic instrumental intro song? CBS and FOX both have good ones.

This is a straw man argument. We all know what he meant. Hank Williams Jr.'s political views aren't exactly an unknown quantity. But he got a little full of himself in front of a politically sympathetic network and put his foot in his mouth. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with this...that's about the government surpressing your speech. Sure he had the right to say what he wanted. And ESPN had the right to divorce their arrangement with him at will.

Which reminds me, if you are in the broadcasting or entertainment industry, you might think about a few simple rules regarding the lesson that should have been learned here:

    1. Espousing your political views only serves to alienate the other half of the people who don't agree but still might buy your songs/see your movies/pay attention to you. Michael Jordan once commented on this by saying he never endorsed a candidate during his playing career since the other half who wouldn't agree still bought his shoes and patronized his sponsors. Country artists get can get away with being overtly political toward a conservative bent but you can easily take it too far, like in this case.

    2. If you're going to apologize for your comments, make it a sincere apology without caveats and conditions. No "I apologize to those I may have offended" statements. Williams apology didn't rise to the standard ESPN was looking for. And if you don't really believe you should apologize, don't embarass yourself twice. Just resign.

    3. Respect the office of the President of the United States, even if you didn't vote for the guy. That also goes for any professional athletes who turn down invitations to the White House. You look like a fool.

    3. And above all, NEVER EVER EVER compare Hitler to any modern political or popular figure. Despite how much you might dislike a political figure, odds are that person never exterminated 6+ million people....or tried taking over the world and killing millions along the way. You will seem like a complete @ss for saying so, regardless of your political stripe. Leave Hitler comments for the History channel.

That's it bottom line. He spoke Hitler and our country is too sensitive to handle that in any type of context.

My suggestion for replacement, why not have a singer from each home city do an intro? I bet Nashville would get more home MNF games if they did that (ok probably not but it couldn't hurt).

    Serious? Yes.
Here is how I can NOT defend him.....
    Watch the interview......
He said: "I'm not going to sugarcoat it."
Fox anchor: "Apparently you are not going to sugarcoat it because you used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe....I think, the president."
Hank Jr: "Well, that is true."

    So yes.....he did.
Remember.....this is Fox news, and they were shocked and uncomfortable.....and immediately disavowed his comments.....fox news.

Its not about "leftist propaganda" or "right wing conspiracies"......I hate the extremes of both parties. This was the polarizing bs that he talked about in the interview.

Like I said before......free speech......I can say whatever I want about who I work for.....and they can freely fire me.

    Enough for me......
You can't defend or argue stupidity.
