Where are the Hawkins and Cook haters this week

That makes no sense. We used a pick on him and traded another away, therefore he cost us two picks.

 

Tennessee acquired Cook after trading their second-round pick in 2010 to the Patriots for that third-round spot in 2009.

 

I say it cost two picks. It cost us a 2010 2nd rounder and then the cost of the 3rd round pick that we acquired because we could have used that pick on someone else.

Or it just cost us a 2nd rounder whatever. Whatever happened to that 2nd round pick? Didn't the Pats trade it to move up like 2 spots and take Gronkowski? He's looked pretty real good so far, even pretty real gooder than Cook.

 

Why are people having so much trouble understanding the Cook pick? To get a 3rd rd pick we didn't have we gave up a 2nd for the next season. It was not 2 picks!

We used that 3rd rd pick we ACQUIRED to draft him!

I'm assuming they were torn between Cook and Marks with our late 2nd in 09 and took Marks out of a need to fill the hole left by AH. When Cook was still on the board later in rd 3 they made a move to get him.

 

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the 3rd rd pick we used was one we didn't have. The 2nd rd pick was payment for that.

 

I'm not even trying to defend Cook here because he hasn't lived up to my expectations of a second round pick but 2010 2nd = 2009 3rd = Jared Cook.

 

Hawkins Shows some flashes.... But I would never throw him the game winning td with 4 seconds left on the clock.... He's not a big game moment kinda guy.

Cook is finally getting it. He is a special player for us... He may have a problem with blocking but his receiving threat is a game changer I believe.

 

Except we traded that pick with the intention of getting Cook. Had we not taken Cook then we would not have traded for the pick.

(Note: We took Ryan Mouton 4-5 picks later. Not a great draft for us.)

 

Up until now our offense has been on a dangerous tilt. CJ has looked rusty, and, unfortunately, we lose Kenny Brittle again before the season is half through. It seems as if this season, especially, teams have had to rely on their tight ends to make their plays in the passing game. Jason Witten for big D, Gronkowski for the Pats, and Vernon Davis for the 49ers.

Craig Stevens was our guy for that, and I feel he plays at that level. Now he's not going to be 100% for he next game if he even plays. So, Cook is going to have to step up, otherwise it's going to be a rough game with Hasselbeck spending some time in the dirt, and no one here wants that. By the way, wearing the number 89 means he's got some big shoes to fill anyway.

Hawkins is a solid player. Not great. He's part of our panic package at WR, and I say panic because now he's starting. If we can get CJ up and going, we won't notice it as much that our depth is a bit thin at this spot.

If either of these two players have a "break-out" year, it's because Matt Hasselbeck can make anyone look like a pro. I don't doubt that I could suit up and snag at least 2 TD passes from this point in the season with him out there, and I'm an overweight asthmatic.

 

You have to consider the opportunity cost of drafting Cook in the 3rd though, we could have used that pick on someone else. That's how I look at it as two picks.
