To be fair... against Baltimore - when he was injured - he seemed to do fine against a defense that was all in his face. He did so well, the only way Baltimore could stop him was to forcibly injure his ankle and get him out of the game.

So... he's proven he can handle himself decently with defenders in his face... what changed?

I don't expect him to do EVERY TIME... but at least once would have been nice to see.

Why is everything an "either/or" situation? Is it unrealistic to believe that both the o-line and CJ need to improve their play? CJ dances too much in the backfield instead of hitting the hole and the O-Line is weak in the middle and allows too many behind the line of scrimmage tackles. Both can be true. Most likely, both are true.

    Based on what exactly?

I mean I want this too be true, but I have zero reason too believe.

I can't speak on exactly when he'll bounce back, as it would be me just guessing. I can say, though, that he WILL bounce back sometime soon. He's just too good, and everyone knows that. We have seen what he can do.

Week 4 might be how long it takes, who knows.

We've seen what he can do... you're right.

He can average a mediocre amount of yards per carry when he doesn't have the best blocking in the NFL opening major gaps.

Just assuming he's too good to continue playing badly is optimistic, I suppose... but he was mediocre all last season too.

We have the same O-Line as last year, and he averaged 4.3 yard per carry, which isn't bad. The thing about CJ is that he may have a couple of attempts that go 2 yard gain, 1 yard loss, 6 yard gain, and then he'll break one for 72 yards. That's what makes him the most coveted player in the NFL.

CJ's too light to open up holes by himself; so if the line can't open it up for him, then he won't produce. That's the reality and I'm sure Coach knows it. What he does about it is anybody's guess. Drew-Jones is like a mini bulldozer, while CJ is a butterfly. Butterflys get swatted and bulldozers plow through. jmo

Come on now! You start off making a good point then blow it at the end with a completely ridiculous, outlandish and unfounded claim. "Most coveted player in the NFL", are you kidding me? This blind homerism has got to stop guys.

As to your point, we hear it all the time. He gets stuffed repeatedly but then breaks a 70 yarder for a TD and it's all worth it! But I don't think people realize how seldom that has actually happened since his 2K season. Last year he had 4 total runs over 40 yards with just 1 of them being over 50 all season long. Now, I'm not saying that's bad by any stretch of the imagination. But the CJ jock-riders act like he breaks off huge TD runs way more than he does in reality. And I'm sorry, but those runs of 2, -1, etc. ARE drive killers. No way around it.

This isn't the same CJ from '08 guys. Just accept it. He's still a very good back and we're lucky to have him as a weapon. And that's how we should use him.... as a unique "weapon". His style of play isn't best suited for carrying the full load. That's where Fishface screwed up. Hopefully Munch doesn't follow suit.

A lot of you guys would have hated barry sanders too. Look back at his career, very similiar in the loss loss, homerun. Hard to put the blame on the running game to me when we pass 3 to 1, in a 10-0 game.

I do think that CJ will get more receptions with this staff. He needs the ball in space.
