Every preseason seems like most posters are on here talking about Cook like he's the second coming of Antonio Gates.

I will remain skeptical until I see the results over a full season on the field.

(And of course I remain the lone person to harp and complain about our strategy fielding TEs for this team. A 2nd and 3rd round draft pick for Stevens and Cook. :p There are serviceable TEs in free agency every year that have shown as much as those two.)

Yet they allowed him to throw into the middle of the line to Bo "you sure? hands" Scaife? I don't buy it......

Screens are dangerous period, because all it takes is one defender to fake blitzing....seen it happen to ALOT of quarterbacks.

Marshall Faulk was the best pass receiver out of the backfield ever.

CJ is not even average. Cj just does not catch the ball well.

People say that deangelo williams cannot catch, but at memphis he was great at it. CJ had vince (didnt have great accuracy) and kerry collins (one of the worst screen passers ever.....he refused to throw the screen). We will see soon but cj, caught 125 passes for 1296 yards and 10 td's (school record for rb).

He and deangelo were excellent at catching the ball in college. Jeff Fisher and Jim Fox are very similiar, they do not throw many screens.

I predict CJ gets 60 catches 600 plus yards in the passing game in this offense.

I've said most of this about using screens and dumps to get CJ the ball in open space before. Having Hass will help.

We do have the framework for a prolific offense (I've stated before it could be as effective as the Rams with Faulk and Warner). I think we have the receivers minus a stud slot receiver (Washington will have to do).

On a Washington note, someone stated that they noticed, in the past few games, him having a connection with Hass. While this could be true, what I noticed was that when his route has him run up field, stop and face the QB his catching is 95% (ask him to catch the ball while he is moving and that number drops considerably). Every catch I saw him make the past two games has been in this fashion.

Anyways, good article on the run and gun. Now I suppose we have a bunch of run and gun geniuses on this board after reading a semi-detailed article about it.

interesting fact: Deangelo Williams is all time rushing leader in college ball and Chris Johnson is the all time purpose yardage leader in a season for pro ball.Williams did it in Memphis,Johnson for Tennessee

No joke! It will be nice to start 1-0 with a division win.

actually Williams had very few receptions in college. 12 for 78 yds in his senior year, 18 in his junior year - he had over 300 carries each of those years and was a beast running the ball.

Which brings me to my comment about Palmer's offense - I also expect them to be a pretty heavy run first attack, am I mistaken? I guess I'll know soon enough.
