As always, the Titans open their season vs. the familiar Jacksonville Jaguars.

There are two big time play makers we need to be ready for. TE Marcedes Lewis, and RB Maurice Jones-Drew.

Last season we gave up tons of plays to the opponents TE's, and if we hope to win the first game of 2011, we'll have to be ready for Marcedes Lewis. Lewis is no joke, he's a super athlete and posted big time numbers for a TE last year, bringing in 58 catches and racking up 700-yards receiving & 10 TD's.

We already know how lethal their RB Maurice Jones-Drew aka "Pocket Hercules" can be, so we better be ready for those two guys. The last time Jones-Drew saw the Titans, he raped us for 186 rushing yards.

    Did I miss anyone?

Don't turn the ball over. That's about it.

PS we haven't opened against the Jags since '08.

Stop the run and make Garrard beat you. David Garrard has looked pretty horrible this preseason and their o-line has gotten progressively worse, too.

For me its going to come down to LINE play.

    D Line:
I made a post about this very recently under the Tony Brown post. Basicially, our two best DE's are injured and probably wont be 100% by gameday. Also, our backups are very unproven. Right now, our only healthy player with starter ability is Ball. the health of Jones, Morgan, and Ford will go a long way in determining this game.

we are going to need to be aggressive and composed with respect to gaps. MJD needs to be gang tackled, hes really a great running back in his own regard and generally against us does extremely well. so line play will be big. also, if they do end up going with the rookie at qb, we will need to rattle him early and often to negate MJD's effectiveness from play action.

    O-Line:
From Matt's play he is still very rusty, especially with our best weapon Britt. Timing between those two needs to improve and that takes practice. So basically he might take a little longer to complete a pass and the line needs to protect him for that extra second or two. Also, ive been reading about the much improved jacksonville line, that will need to be contained to keep our D fresh for the steady MJD dose they will give us.

I think our offense is gonna be WAY out of sync....CJ just comes in and Britt hasn't done anything in the preseason with Hasselbeck....could be ugly on offense

You said "as always", but it's been three years since we've opened with them.

Sure, it's the most common... I was just saying it doesn't always happen.
