As an alternate to this debate, the 2007 Patriots are in order.

There is no exact formula other than winning enough games to get into the playoffs, playing your best football at the end of the season and have more breaks go your way than the opponents.

I think most teams use the rb for three reasons. The first to increase the odds of making a 1st down on short yardage situations. The second is to help keep the defense guessing and completly tee off on the QB constantly. The third, burn up clock time.

I doubt few teams believe they have a rb who can win games more than a good QB.

Would you rather have a qb who earns 10million a year who plays like a top qb, or a 10m a year running back who plays like a top rb? In other words do you think that qb could win more games for the Titans than the rb?

Maybe I am looking at it wrong, but if they pay CJ what he wants I will feel a little cheated if he gets 120 yds a game and the Titans still lose more than they win.

Would the respective teams that have Brady, Manning and Fitzgerald trade for CJ straight up?

    Would the Titans?

I'll LOVE CJ when he signs, but I'll HATE CJ if he don't.

He just needs to hurry up and sign, because do you guys know how many texts I get from all my boys on asking me if CJ is going to sign or not? Countless texts...

I won't be a fool and say that we would be better off without CJ, because we all know we won't be better off without him. Push come to shove, this is a messy situation all around.

i heard colin this morning as well on a delivery and heard him talk about the whole running backs arn't worth anything now days. I'm not a fan of Colin at all because all he talks about is the Yankess, Cowboys and Lakers. If a small market team makes headlines he will skip over it and find a way to talk about Derek Jeter lol hes obsessed with big market teams and players ... as a radio host of a national show I would like to hear more than just Jeter, Romo and Kobe ...

With that being said, Colin did have a point. QB's win not RB's ... does having CJ help our team uhhhh ya lol not even a question - but its disgusting how crazy CJ is being right now and hes one good hit away from being done. RB's life in the NFL is not long at all - you aint gettin' Fitzgerald money ...

The best scenario I heard at all so far over the radio was - THE TITANS NEED TO MAKE CJ AN ULTIMATUM. MAKE HIM THE HIGHEST PAID RB IN THE LEAGUE - NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS ... IF HE STILL DOES NOT ACCEPT THAT AND WANTS DOUBLE THAT AMOUNT THEN CALL HIS BLUFF AND SAY OK, YOUR SITTING OUT ... simple as that

Elite RBs don't win Super Bowls nowadays.

Deep RB corps do. And that's why the Texans are indeed a legitimate threat this year to make a splash, as much as I hate it.

The Titans will only go far as our entire RB corps will take us. QB is the most important position on the field, and defense follows that. But we need Ringer and Harper to step up to carry some of the load for us to be any sort of contender.

Yea f'ing right. A team that gives up 27 ppg is never a threat. There have been a lot of teams with great RB duos who suck or can't win a playoff game. IMO the Texans aren't that great at RB. One year wonders happen... and they have another guy on that RB squad who was a one year wonder (Steve Slaton).

I lol at everyone who takes Arian Foster with the 1st pick in FF. I bet he gets hurt by week 5. Either way, he's not going to be the leading rusher this year.

That should be evident. How did DW (or Colin, as it is) determine who the top RB's are? Did he account for RB's drawing DB's into the box? Did he account for how well they block? Did he account for how many receptions they get? Did he account for how many TD's they score? Nope, did it the same way the NFL does it. Yards.

Manning would, right when he was choking it up in the Superbowl, '06 season.

For the immediate future, Chris Johnson is the most valuable player on THIS team. We have our QB of the future, but he's not there yet. He needs help. Why do to Jake Locker what we did to Vince Young i.e. throw him out there surrounded by scrubs? He will need support! Talent costs money. With the rookie pool being chicken feed, you can start getting used to talent costing more money.

Not saying that CJ should get a blank check, but this nonsense about the team being better without him and the constant effort from some into tearing him down when he's obviously the best at what he does is getting old.
