Titans should Trade CJ

Yes. I've been saying the McFadden deal since like a week ago. McFadden, McClain or Tvyon Branch, and 2 1st rounds. It's Al Davis, and he would do that deal. We'd get a solid RB to replace CJ, a young talents defense player, and 2 likely Top 10 picks.


As multiple people have pointed out, the recipe for a Super Bowl is:

Great QB + Good Targets + Great D = Super-Bowl

Yes, having an elite RB is very helpful, but it's not needed for a Super Bowl. Don't get me wrong, CJ is an amazing player; but it's not a RB league anymore.

 

When was the last time a running team won the super bowl? The teams making it all have elite QBs with a top passing game. Until we get to that point, we are a running team and Chris Johnson is the most important guy we have after the QB. Because our passing game is based on the success of our running game. The reason we were successful in 08 is because our rushing offense so good and our passing game balanced that. That's the way we must build our offense unless tom brady decides to come to Tennessee. If you think we can trade CJ and just pick up another rb who draws 9 in the box on every play, you may be mentally handicapped. Chris Johnson is unique because no guy in the league commands the defense like he does. Trade that away and think Javon Ringer can pick up the slack? Hell even if Ringer rushes for 1000 yds, he won't garner enough respect to have defenses stack the line. Meaning our unproven receiving core will have all the pressure.

Not going to read the whole thread but I've stated many times that if we can get two first round picks for CJ and we trade him for that, I'm not going to complain.

 

Why are so many set on building for tomorrow when we can win today? Screw this trading C.J. nonsense, he improves our team by a lot, keep him!

He has plenty of skill, but NO, don't like how he gets dinged up and doesn't play.

 

See, I don't know how I feel about trading CJ for just two first rounders. I don't want a 1st in 2012 and a 1st in 2013. That's not the deal we should consider. We need to get players AND picks.

 

If you watch games you would see that CJ does not get hit very often. He's usually bumped out of bounds or just falls. Guys like MJD and AP have short spans because they are bruisers, but CJ is built more like Barry Sanders where he can have a long career because he takes care of his body. He's had no major injuries or missed a game. And when he starts to slow down, he'll still be one of the fastest guys out there.

And are you suggesting we seek a deal or a team offers? All these scenarios sound nice but we have not heard anything about any team offering a deal to us. The titans definitely aren't going to look for one.

 

I really really hope I don't see reports saying we're shopping C.J..

 

Because people have this feeling that we are rebuilding when we are not.
