I hear all of the "who needs CJ" talk, but, truth be told, I did not see much last night to tell me that we do not need him. Maybe with a little more Ringer PT last night I would have a different opinion, but bottom line is that his last two plays on the field last night were fumbles...one arguably not his fault but the other was. That is not good....as I said in another thread, I really think we should have gotten him back out on the field after that.

Harper is not ready for prime time yet. He has alot of potential, but also has alot to learn.

Long story short, right now, I think we are kidding ourselves if we think we would not miss CJ. Maybe I will have a different opinion after I see Ringer play more consistently, but even then, the thought of adding in CJ's home run ability to some of the talent I saw on the field last night is tough to "proudly not recognize" as valuable to us.

The GM needs to start talking to the agent and the player and not the media. And yes, CJ you need to be here for it. Face to face man to man, work it out and lets roll! This team, I think, is going to be much better than the media knows!

I just do not understand your front office.

CJ is a RB, they have a shelf life of about 5-7 years...part of which you already used up.

Any RB is forced to take punishment that the league felt was so severe that they enacted rules to keep it from happening to their QBs. But a good RB can make a team difficult to beat and can take a LOT of pressure from a QB.

A RB like CJ instantly makes your QB better, and to be honest the QB crew you have now means CJ will likely have a better season as well since the defense cannot just key in on the RB.

Given that CJ is one of the better backs in the league, that he will also become a key to victory for your team and that you are using the limited years of contribution he has available - doesn't it make sense to pay him?

This is especially true since your team saved a bundle of money on what a #8 pick this year gets vs last year - take half of that savings and give him at least a few $M per year contract.

All this holding out is doing is hurting CJ's production once he gets back since he will have to take at least a few games to get into football shape.

No, Johnson is valuable in too many ways to just discard him for another runningback. Put him anywhere on the field and it's an instant triple team. That type of advantage in play creation is very rare.

BTW, you missed the most important part of the records comment. CONSISTENCY. That was the most important factor in his record year.

The point is you aren't going to have any running without a decent line. With a decent line and not much else, CJ was able to produce a CONSISTENT record season.

Like I said, if the Titans aren't serious about fixing up their line for their runningbacks, then yes trade him. However, if they decide they won't accept that crap play of last year, then you keep him. He is too much of a talent and match-up nightmare to just give up.

BTW, NOT breaking records doesn't equate wins/playoffs either.

Patience, people. This deal doesn't need to get done right away. The front office has a plan to break down CJ's demands (he'll still get a ton of money, but he might back off on his record-setting demands) and they are clearly implementing it. No need to panic any time soon.

Unrelated possibly redundant question, are you from Toronto, Canada? Don't find many hardcore Titans fans here lol

    Franchise RB

In the last decade, who are the big time running backs in the NFL that you remember?
In the last decade how many of those RBs were on Superbowl winning teams?
    ...just sayin'
