    I asked ESPN's Matt Williamson about the signing... he replied

    FWIW: I really respect Williamson's knowledge when it comes to talent evaluation... so for me his opinion carries a little more weight than that of most media boobs.

    He started all 16 games during 2009, but none during 2010.

    The only other year he had a significant amount of starts was in 2006 with 8 starts.

    To me, this signing says less about Hope and more abuot Vinny Fuller. I think Fuller could be in trouble. He has an inflated salary this year too. Plus, Babineaux plays special teams and Fuller doesn't.

    at least he's familiar with Jerry Gray's scheme, and vice versa. If Gray thought he was a bum, he wouldn't be here, he's obviously better than some other cats on the squad by this move.

    He's familiar with the scheme, adds much needed depth and experience, and will push Hope for the starting job. He's doing all this for cheap but he's still a talented SS. Sounds good to me.

    2010 he didn't start because he was behind Earl Thomas in the depth chart.

    Personally, I love this signing. I mentioned Bab in a different thread. Let's cut Hope, and use his $6 mil to sign CJ2K. Trade a late pick for Mays for added depth. Boom.
