lol, cjthebeast has sure kept up this argument/denial for a long time.

For one, Vince is not better than McNabb or Hasselbeck. Vince can't make it for a full season, how is that better than anyone that can? Second, it's obvious Munchack doesn't think highly of VY or he would be asking Bud to keep him.

also damn you for making me comment about this in this thread. I thought reading your post surely I clicked on the VY thread.

Ha ha...about the highlighted. I felt it was relevant since he fits the profile.

As far as Munchack's relationship with Vince, it was reported (not gonna pull up) that the two had a good relationship. And as far as McNabb and Hasselback being better than Vince that is just false.

I give you that Vince didn't play a full season, but his production while he did play was much better than both QB's. McNabb finished with a 77.1 QB Rating. Hasselbeck with a 73.2. For reference, Kerry had a 82.2 rating.

I understand that you all hate Vince. But we have to be realistic about it. We're letting go of a QB who is very effective when healthy and who is familiar with our players and system. Even if he doesn't remain the starter, he provides us with security.

Yes he is. Is he a better option than Hasslebeck in terms of helping prepare Locker to be a Franchise QB? No. I don't think Mcnabb is a good pickup for that job either to be honest. Hasslebeck really is the only one who makes sense from every angle to me. he's the only QB good enough to lead us to wins that will also help Locker the whole way, and support him starting when it's time.

If memory serves, Vinny Garducci broke/reported that story.

This is true. But as for winning games this season, Vince Young is the QB who gives us the best chance to win.

Yes but I also remember hearing straight from Coach Munchak's mouth through PFT Live that he wishes Vince well and sees him having success but that it would not be with us. That pretty much nailed the coffin shut. The ONLY way Vince would be allowed to come back as a Titan is if Bud were to demand it.

I don't buy that mentoring stuff. What's Hasselbeck gonna do, hold Locker's hand as they go through practice? Aaron Rodgers sat under Favre for 3 years and it's pretty well documented that Favre was a jerk the whole time to him. Seems to have worked out fine for Rodgers.

The best 'mentoring' is setting an example on the field and in the locker room. Locker's game is more similar to VY's, so I think VY would be just as instrumental in Locker's development as Hasselbeck would. VY hasn't been a great leader the past few years, but Fisher has been a big part of that and a year with Munch may make a world of difference.

If VY is released, I agree that Hasselbeck is probably our best option.

I wouldn't argue that, but Vince is either the QB of the future for the Titans or nothing to the Titans. They drafted a QB with the 8th pick in the draft, and have already said multiple times that Young will be traded or released. Young is not an option now.

Well, the only other option is to trade him so I guess we're on the same page. Bring in Hasslebeck!

    The main issues for McNabb:

o the entire offense was learning a new system and McNabb's play was up and down as he was learning a new system and new teammates (Cutler, Cassell, Favre etc all struggled their 1st season in their new systems)

o McNabb can't evade sacks and pressures like he used to, partly due to age partly due to an early hamstring injury

o He needed to evade sacks because the pass protection in Washington is terrible, top 5 in sacks allowed, IIRC No.1 in QB hits allowed

o for almost 1/2 the season Moss was the only viable WR target

o Kyle's offense is even more unbalanced towards the pass then Andy Ried 65/35 and never established the running game

I think there is no question that McNabb can still play.
I'm surprised that he's not the top FA QB on the market.
If he played for any team where the OC is not the son of the HC he would still be the starting QB in Washington.
Typically when it comes between a veteran multiple pro-bowl QB vs a young OC its normally the OC that has to go not the QB.
His teammates love him, he just bumped heads with Kyle.
