If RB is so unimportant why do teams even bother using a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick on them? Yes you can find running backs that just "satisfy the position" but we have one that makes everyone around him better. I'm not ready to give that up. Sorry

RB's can attack any part of the field and receive more touches than any other player besides the QB. I'd say they're pretty important to the offense.

There is no objective measure of the importance of different positions in the game of football and it's foolish to pretend there is. Each position can have wildly different importance based on scheme.

 

Exactly! Running backs in a pass happy offense need to pass block and that's about it. Thus they have less value in that system. On the other hand, in a run first offense like ours, RB is one of the most important positions.
