Where is VY? (all things Vince Young goes here)

Let's cool it with suicide bashing. There are many uncontrollable factors that would lead someone to commit suicide (nature, nurture, etc.). Unfortunately, some people are dealt the combination of genetics that cause them to commit suicide. The fact is, we can't pretend to understand other people.

 

Look at how much I support Locker in all of the threads. It was thrown out earlier about Kerry Collins, why is it all of a sudden out of line about Vince Young?

 

Oh, and before I forget...

bigtitan, I was just messing with you when I called your picture a tasteless joke and appeared offended. That was actually pretty funny and I went melodramatic on you because I had to try to guilt trip you since that was the only way to top that.

And yes, I agree with Tennessy XO about suicide being a serious matter, but I'm sure bigtitan didn't mean any harm by that picture, he's a cool guy from what I know.

 

Because I feel that some fans simply don't like Vince Young because he's a black mobile QB. On a deeper level, he might not be able to articulate efficiently enough to communicate with some of the fanbase so they can't identify with him. Some fans hated the idea of getting a mobile QB until the Locker pick where all of a sudden its a good idea to have a mobile QB.

Vince Young was never put in a situation to excel in the past due to poor scheming and lack of weapons. He was pulled from games and seasons despite winning rookie of the year honors and improving every season but his 2nd. His failure has been staying healthy not his on-the field play.

I'm not saying you have to be racist to dislike Young, but I think there are some fans in TN who are still a little backwards. Sometimes it comes out in posts.

 

I think some VY nut swingers can't get enough of those salty black balls inside their mouths. Sometimes it comes out in posts.

 

I hope in 2011 there is an extremely small percentage of the population that judges someone based on their skin color.

I can't wrap my head around racism in sports. Especially at the pro level. I know for a fact it is an issue at the college level.

I just can't recall a post by anyone where I saw someone hinting at race when it come to VY bashing on this board. I sure there are fans around who think that way but I haven't seen it here.

 

Wishing Jake Locker the best in 2011. Would be nice to have 2 consecutive Rookie of the Year QB's. I'm anxious to see Locker and am hoping that whoever we bring in is just to get us out of the gates.

 

CJ's right. Alot of the hate here over the past 5 years has been less about football and more about race/culture. Things would have been a bit different in this forum if Vince had been a country music playing, plaid-wearing cowboy of a white guy.

That's just the honest truth.

I'm not saying the guy should have been completely free of criticism, he definitely screwed up...alot. But I've definitely had the feeling of reading posts here and wishing people would quit being girls and say what they really felt.


Having said that, I can understand where these types of haters are coming from. I mean, I can understand why they would want to identify racially and culturally with their team's QB. Hell, I want that too.

The difference is, I'm ok with whatever kind of QB and won't go bashing or wishing failure on him because of some self-imposed limit on my ability to think and reason.

You won't catch me dissing someone because they struggle with grammar or speak pure ebonics, especially not in my own grammatically incorrect post (which is always ironic and funny to see here).


Mainly it's just annoying because you can read such filth and yet, people won't just come out with what their real problem is...like their internet reputation is at stake or something.

 

Honestly, I just can't stand him because he is from Texas. It pisses me off! I'm a state...ist.

Thanks for calling me out so I finally broke down and got that off my chest. I hope nobody looks at me differently now.
