JJs season fell off when Brown fell off because of the knee. He started to get more attention and w didn't have anyone at DE that scared anyone either.

I think what we will see is instead of DEs who are more edge rushers all the DL guys will be similar. This will vastly improve against the run but also help get more bodies to collapse the pocket. Instead of trying to speed rush on the edge we want to get more guys pushing the pocket and getting hands up to knock the ball down. One huge disadvantage of the wide edge rush is the QB had passing lanes. If we send someone on the edge it will be a guy like Ayers coming on a blitz.

For all who don't know,..the Titans have another DT/DE young stud, from the SEC, 6'3,290 lb. Malcolm Sheppard,...... don't be surprised to see Sheppard shake things up whenever the lockout is lifted, there is a lot of talk about the Auburn draftee having a leg in because of the Rocker ties,.. well guess what? Coach Tracy Rocker recruited Malcolm Sheppard from Bainbridge,GA. to Arkansas and was his position coach for 2 yrs. while at Arkansas, an injury during a new years day bowl caused Sheppard to have a not so good combine and he went undrafted, Sheppard was signed minutes after the draft by the Texans where he impressed then DC Frank Bush(now titans LB coach) don't judge Sheppard with last years Defense because he was only a part of the last 2 games, consider him with this draft class, ROCKER and BUSH are truly aware of this young man ,check em out on youtube !!

    A reality check here please!!!!

Klug was a 5th rd pick.

Clayton was a 7th rd pick.

Sheppard was not drafted last year and Houston was so impressed with him they left him on the practice squad and lost him.

I'm not saying they are all scrubs but reality tells us that one, maybe one could be a solid starter one day for us and maybe another a serviceable guy. To use the word "stud" to describe a guy who barely saw the field is hilarious and they were so overwhelmed with Sheppard's talent that they still used 2 picks at his position.

We really only drafted one guy who we could expect to get in there and play regularly right away yet the word overhaul is being used.

Nobody at DE? Only a guy who had 12.5 sacks and made a pro bowl playing just to his left. And if Jason Jones needs another player alongside of him to be an impact player then he is not that caliber of player himself.

People were saying he could breakout and make a pro bowl last season!!!

Jones is a streaky player. 2 of his 3.5 sacks came in one half of one game. We all remember his 3 sack game against the Steelers in 08.

JJ is not a physical beast like Suh or AH when he was playing lights out. When Brown's play fell off and he wasn't a threat JJ got double teamed quite a bit and he isn't a guy who does well in those situations. He thrives when he can go one on one and use his quickness and long arms to get penetration. If he has to fight through multiple blockers he simply isn't going to be a dominant player. Babins play fell off a little in the 2nd half of the season as well and teams were not exactly sending OGs and OCs out to block him. The one game where Babin did have 2.0 sacks Jones had one as well.

JJ simply isn't one of those guys who is going to over power guys or split doubt teams. He also isn't as dominant at DT as people give him credit for and might be as good or better at DE. I agree he is streaky.

All i keep reading is myths about us getting bigger(We really have not) and how we want to be able to use 3-4 type personnel we don't have.

Jim Wyatt's piece today was ignorant he has Ayers competing for Witherspoon's strong side linebacker spot. Problem is Witherspoon does not play the strong side. Oh well it's only his job to know such things. :sad2: Then Wyatt said that Spoon might compete for the middle job if Tulloch is not back but that is also not likely. He was basically clueless!

Only time will tell, but being drafted is not a free pass to playing early, all the experts say clayton would not have been drafted if not for the titans/rocker nod, Sheppard was projected to be a 4th to 7th rd pick,.. the draft is very unpredictable just ask Mallet ,some players freefall until they get their shot, the texans RB was a practice squad player at one time,Sheppard is only 23yrs. old the same age as the new draftees ,the Titans have gotten a good young group here, CLAYTON,SHEPPARD have Rocker ties,J.Cassey will stud the middle, look for Clayton to be placed on the practice squad ,the NFL is another animal so one yr. to develop will do wonders for him, Sheppard has endured a full yr. with the Texans of spring practice OTA's and battled all the way to a spot on the PS after being undrafted thats no easy task, he has preseason gm. experience w/Texans and played the final 3 gms. w/Titans, this experience will put him ahead of Clayton, remember Sheppard is not journeyman/with 10 yrs. in the league, he's basically a rookie with NFL game experince, this guy was all SEC twice voted team captain twice, only the second in ARK. history(Frank Broyles), do a little research b4 you write this guy off.

Actually, we DID get bigger with Ayers and Klug (assuming he plays DE) and Casey (who is bigger than most of the DTs we have, especially in actual bulk, since he's short for his weight). The CB we drafted is big too, at almost 6'3. Rolltide, how did we NOT get bigger?

Maybe he can do for us what Blount did for Tampa Bay.
