There's no way it's time to move on. Ringer is the kind of guy who wont wow anyone til about next year or the year following. I'm not his biggest fan by any means, but Ringer is a very complete RB.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of trying Harper out as a FB. A receiving FB can be LETHAL! I mean he could be an absolute nightmare for teams. Just look how far those average NYJ & Cowboy teams went when Richie Anderson was catching passes for 7-8-9-10 yards at a time. But unless he can block, catching won't matter at all. If I can see him pancake a LB, I'm ALL for giving him some reps at FB. But it all comes back to the blocking element of being a FB. Otherwise, we could be like everyone else who throws to the "FB" and play our TE's from the backfield.

I also happen to know, Jamie Harper does NOT want to be a true FB. So IDK how far this FB thing will go.

Ringer is a complete running back in the sense that he is as good at one skill as he is any other. The problem is that none of those skills are getting him on the field.

Except for 3rd & longs. He must know something to be taking carries away from Chris Johnson.

If we had 3/4 of the best RBs in the league on our team, they wouldn't be seeing the field often. CJ has been the entire offense for the last 2 years.

I'm a Ringer fan, and excited for Harper. They just need to give CJ a rest every once in awhile. Plus we have Stafon Johnson returning. Should be good competition back there this year.

He could be like Larry Centers a smaller FB who caught over 800 passes in his career. Given that CJ is not very good catching the ball and Ringer not much better his best role could be on 3rd down and short to medium. An H-back type who would take on some 3rd down back rolls but also be like a possession TE which we don't have with Sciafe gone. Just a guy who can run a good 6 yard route! Of course you could argue that DJ Williams would have been more ideal for that role but Williams couldn't also run short yardage like this guy can.

I'm not trying to dump on the pick but i don't believe in the change of pace concept and there were 6 backs taken in rd 4 ahead of him. So 6 teams looking for a back as late as rd 4 decided to go for somebody else.

What makes me like this pick a little more than usual is our new RB coach. Jim Skipper is one of the best in the business.

Stafon is not a real option. He's a great kid with a touching story, but he's slow, fragile, and waaay behind. He'll be a rookie all over again because he'll be starting from scratch because of the severity of his leg injury. He's not a pass rusher who only needs to know 6 or so concepts, he's on offense, that hurts his case big time.

I can tell you he and Ellington were the only threats on that Clemson offense this past year. Kyle Parker had a bad back most of the year and couldn't throw accurately and when he did the receivers usually dropped the ball.

Don't know too much about Harper, but his skillset looks pretty similar to Blount's. I even saw a highlight video where he hurtled over a defender, which is something Blount kind of became known for last year.
