So throwing picks away or picking guys a round or earlier than they should be picked is smart under and circumstances?

Now Klug might end up being a decent pick...who knows. What we do know is he isn't really a good pass rushing DE and he is way to small to play DT. For those thinking he is a nice pick for a 3-4 that is ridiculous. Jones isn't a good fit for a 3-4 either.

I just think that OL needs warranted higher than a need for a RB that averaged 3.9 ypc in the ACC in the 4th round....that pick is the main pick I have a problem with.

I agree that this is a rebuilding year, but if we do not build back the front line our skill players will continue to age prematurely (CJ specifically). That said, Munchak was the OL coach...maybe he knows something here. I certainly hope so.

That affirms my suspicions even more, in the 3-4 you need a big, thumper in the middle.

Munchak said a lot of the online problems were do to injury. our OLine isnt not that big of a deal. what most people noticed last season was the opposing QB having 12 seconds to throw and our QB's sucking face.

we have addressed both of those and will continue to address them in free agency.

He's 6'3", 275 or so. He could stand to shed maybe 5-10 lbs and come in for a 3-4. Runs around a 4.8 40. Not burning speed but you have to think with a few more pounds shed he could gain a step or two and keep that powerful frame. Easily switch to ILB.

    Karl Klug analysis:

Mel Kiper's Draft Report: Klug played inside, hitting the A and B gaps, at Iowa but he's not big enough to be a full time defensive tackle in the NFL. Instead, he'll need to be a defensive end or a 3-4 OLB at the pro level. I like the way he plays the game, though. He understands leverage and plays an all-out, never-say-die brand of football. He does a good job using his hands and arms to separate from the offensive lineman and he shows good ball skills. He is instinctive, aware, and has been well coached. I think Klug could be a little bit like Jarrett Johnson who came out of Alabama as a DT and made the successful transition to OLB for the Ravens. He will offer a team great versatility and you have to love a kid who combines that with a great attitude and passion for his work. Klug will definitely bring value to an NFL roster.

Pro Football Weekly: Undersized, productive, high-motor, max-effort tweener with athletic limitations and overachiever traits. Praised by coaches and scouts alike as a true "football player" with his main drawback being measureables that do not readily project to the pro game. The big question scouts must figure out is where to play him, but wherever he lines up, he'll find a way to be productive and elevate the play of his teammates. A player you win with. Projected 4th or 5th round pick.

Mike Detillier's Draft Report: Karl has an identical twin brother. He is a very active and quick inside performer who can push the inside pocket and he has first rate penetration skills. He is not a quick twitch athlete with elite foot speed for the edge and he lacks great size and bulk strength for the inside. Karl is an above average pass rusher, but he needs refinement with his pass rush moves and his ability to work around the heavy inside traffic. Tough guy who plays hard and he has been a productive college performer but he must go to the right spot in the NFL to be effective. He should be a good late round pick-up as a backup tackle/end in the pros.

ESPN Insider: He played at DT at Iowa and doesn't have a true fit in the NFL but he's a good pick here because he has a great motor, finds the ball and is a sound tackler. He gets the most out of his ability and is dependable.

combine #'s are kind dumb, back in the 60 and 70's they just had football players not freaks that can jump 80 feet and lift 1200 pounds. Klug is a football player. thats what we need.

I don't remember seeing too many O lineman on the injury report last year, but I may be missing something there. All I know is that several times per game CJ would see a D-Lineman in his face almost before he got the ball, and that part of the reason our QBs "sucked face" last year was due to alot of pressure, causing injuries to some of them.

Agree with you on the D-line and LB....I just do not see why we pick a RB that could likely have not been drafted at all in the 4th round. That was not as bad as the Chris Henry pick, but it is in the neighborhood IMO.
