I'm torn on the pick as well. I've been calling it a reach because it is. I realize that he was guaranteed to be gone by #12 to the Vikings, but that doesn't mean it's not a reach. The Vikings are clearly reachers, taking Ponder about 25 spots before he would've been picked.

Overall, I am supportive of Jake Locker. He's a great guy. There are no character concerns. He's certainly talented. He will be a hard worker. It's just going to take some great coaching for him to become a great QB... And that's why I had been saying that he would fit perfectly behind Peyton or Brady for a few years.

It's a leap to suggest that any of the QBs that would have been available later are equal to Locker. The Titans obviously didn't think so.

I don't see how it's a reach, big of some ESPN big board? Teams know who they want, not a mock draft and certainly not an "expert". When drafting a franchise QB, there is no reach.

His 40 time is better than Mark Ingram's. Locker can't run? This is just getting silly.

So tell me what Jamarcus Russell was then, if you don't mind...

what ESPN anchor told you guys that there are no reaches with QBs? That's silly.

    Of course there are.

Draft value counts nomatter what position you're drafting.

The Titans are the same idiots that had BOTH Lienart and Vince over Cutler. I couldn't care less what our FO "thinks" (they don't).

I'm not saying HE would be available. I'm saying someone just as good would have been... Ponder, probably.

Dude it's the Raiders, I don't think anyone liked that pick because no one thought he was going to be a good QB.

Your boy Ponder went to the Vikings and everyone was literally speechless but you don't think it's a reach? It's only a reach if it's a player someone doesn't like. When drafting a franchise QB you take the player you think will be the best and they thought Locker so I have no problem with that especially since Washington and Minnesota were very interested in him.

Leinart sucks and Cutler doesn't win games. If VY would've acted mature then he would still be here.

Ponder was a reach, even though he's the best QB in this class.

He could have been had if they traded back... therefore: reach.

And Locker running faster than Ingram doesn't mean he can be a running QB in the NFL. Michael Vick was faster than EVERY RB, yet he learned it doesn't work either.

I've had this signature since maybe around February. That's not to say I don't have my reservations about him but out of all the guys, I liked him the most. He's not perfect and he's got a lot of work to do but I think he's got the most upside. The biggest selling point, he's got an attitude opposite of Vince Young. He's not a whiner, he's going to work hard, and he's not going to get in a fight in a strip club.

Michael Vick still averages about 8-10 rushing attempts per game which is around the same number he had before he went to prison. The difference between old and new Vick is that he goes through his progressions more often before he tucks it and runs and makes a lot less mistakes. Running is still a huge part of his game and it does work for him.
