What needs to happen is as soon as we can trade for players we need to offer a 3rd/4th round pick and nab Donovan McNabb. He is the perfect QB for our situation. He is good enough to keep us competitive for a season or two and he is pretty much the perfect mentor for a Young QB (ask Vick).

There were rumors that McNabb hated Vick.

I also don't see how it would be a good idea to trade anything for McNabb when he's probably going to be released. The Titans don't need to trade for a vet when they can just sign someone and keep all their draft picks.

No offense, but you've posted that you have a good feeling about Locker and in another thread you said that you like him because he reminds you of yourself. That's great and I'm pumped about Locker too, but I don't think the Titans should be running their team based on your gut feelings or even their own. I would much rather see them stick to the book and play it safe with Locker.

I think its extremely important we sit locker for MOST of the first season, if not the entire season. Look what it did for Vince Young, Aaron Rodgers, etc...

I think we'll resign Kerry Collins, he'll get the gig and we'll try at all costs to avoid handling it like we handled VY (rushing him into the spotlight at week 3).

Reality is we're not making the playoffs next season, but 2012-13 could be a very different story.

As much as I want to see Locker this year, its probably not smart for him too play. But then again, its unlikely well make playoffs - the xp could be helpful.

If we're not going to make the playoffs, why sit Locker?

Everybody can name a few QBs that sat for at least a year and it helped them, but that is not the only recipe to success. all bad QBs will be revealed, like Leinart/Quinn, even if they do sit. I believe it is just stifling Locker to sit him. I seriously believe Rodgers could have had his coming out party about 4 years earlier if he had not been stuck on the bench.

but many started early on, and have been great. Matt Ryan, Manning, Brees, Flacco, Bradford.

Favre and Brady sat originally because nobody thought they were going to be good, not to acclimate them to the game.

I think there is reason to bench a 1st round QB only if you already have a starter in place. Such as Montana/Young, Favre/Rodgers, Plummer/Cutler. NOT bringing in someone new to the system because you don't trust your rookie yet: see Collins/Young

I do not believe bringing in a new vet and benching your future is going to help. I'm sure our FO is already having this argument soon, if they aren't already.

Firstly I am pumped about Locker, but get a vet and sit Locker for a season.

We have had so many staff changes which will rework the playbook. Get the rest of the team up to speed before even considering throwing Locker in. I also like the idea of him being mentored and working on some of his areas of need. Better to do that without the pressure of preparing for gameday.

McNabb is rumoured to be a target of the Vikings but I would like to see him playkng a season acting as mentor and then give him a chance to compete. I am not a keen on the idea of Collins acting as a mentor.

Getting a desirable veteran is going to be hard since they know Locker is the front office favorite for the teams starter. With that in mind it looks like it's Mark Bulger or Kerry Collins to the rescue.

    God yes!!

As much as it pains me to say I think Kerry Collins is our best option, that is if he want's to come back for a couple of years to hold down the fort until Locker is ready. Hasselbeck would be the next best option, both of them would be strong mentors for Locker.
