I seriously think Hassleback could be the target. Matt can't realistically expect more than a two year contract, which would be ideal for the Titans. Hassleback has the best performance vs. investment. He's a solid leader/mentor also. He'd be a good partner with Locker. That was one of the possible benefits of Locker going to the Seahawks (he'd have Matt as a mentor) as long as the Seahawks resigned Matt.

Vet who lives here, knows Munch, is cool with backing up a pick after tutoring him vs a west coast guy who has no experience with the system and wants starter $ and at least a couple years in that role? I don't see it. Locker will not be sitting long. One season max - more likely the halfway point of the season unless the team is in real contention...

Lets just go ahead and trade locker for colt mccoy so we can win a superbowl.

Yeah but you don't sell Hasselbeck like that :) you tell him that he'll at least get a year and then compete the next year.... then when Hasselbeck gets hurt half way through the season, you get to take a look at Locker :D

    I can't do 1-5 or 0-6 again, no way.

Collins can NOT be an option, no freaking way, I forbid it!

I hope they go with someone a little more mobile than Collins.

I know Bulger and Hasslebeck aren't exactly speedy but they can escape pressure when needed I hate watching team blitz heavy and watching Kerry back pedal and chuck the ball out of bounds because his feet are in cement.

Gradkowski and Wallace deserve looks as well I kinda like Bruce.

There's no formula for producing top QBs in the NFL. We have no way of knowing how Harrington and Carr do if they sit and learn the game. I think common sense comes into play. A guy who knows the playbook, can read defenses, has the confidence he can lead his team to a win, etc. is going to be more successful than one who can't/doesn't. You feel trail by fire is best. I think there is as much potential to do harm instead.

Young only succeeded as a rookie because of his legs and a simplified playbook. There was no pressure to win when he started. Once defenses adjusted, Young became very mediocre. Would he have been a better QB if he'd sat his rookie season and learned the game? Maybe. I personally think he saw early success and never felt he needed to be a student of the game.

We have no way of knowing except he's said himself how much it benefited him to watch Farve. Looks like that worked out pretty well.

I could not agree with this any more. Playing Young early ending up being a big mistake. Locker absolutely must be shielded until he's ready to go in and take over. You only get one chance to give a rookie his first NFL start. I don't think Locker would ever have the issues of arrogance that Vince had, but it's too risky because he could lose confidence if things didn't go well and he was overwhelmed.

I want Collins (or whatever vet) in there on day 1 and if he gets hurt, I would rather see Rusty go in than Locker. The earliest Locker should get in a game is week 8, unless he just blows everyone away in camp (and even then, I'd probably make him wait).

I really hope the Titans follow the Palmer/Rodgers model and set up Locker for success by holding him out for a long stretch.

WRONG that's not how this guy rolls. If he throws 3 INT's, he'll step back into the huddle then throw 3TD's. This guy is special, more so than anyone we've seen in a Titans uniform. Not since Eddie George was drafted have I felt so good about a player, and this is 10x more complicated with no free agency, no CBA, new coaches, and this "lockout".
