Where is VY? (all things Vince Young goes here)

Even though I was at one point in favor of letting VY play out the last year of his contract (we obviously weren't going to get anything significant via trade anyway) we simply can't keep him around after drafting Jake Locker at #8. What happens if VY came back dedicated and played lights out? What would we do then? We couldn't possibly re-sign VY with a top 10 pick, getting paid top 10 money, waiting in the wings. And we also couldn't trade him as he'd be a free agent. We're better off letting Locker take his lumps sooner rather than later. And VY is better off catching on with a new team ASAP.

 

It won't take long for Locker to start. Pick up someone in free agency. VY and the staff have burnt bridges. We'll have a vet in front of Locker to start off the season, it just won't be VY.

I simply said a good QB. I didn't mention VY.

I like the Locker pick, and want him to become our franchise QB, but we've got to be prepared for a shaky start and give him time to develop.

 

I know what you mean. People on different sides of the aisle place blame mainly on those two guys. I catch myself blaming Fisher for a lot of our issues.

 

Well, the two previous posts you made were about keeping VY... So when you say a good QB in your next post, one will assume your top choice is VY.


Locker will catch on faster than most anticipate.

I'm calling it. Locker will start by week 12, shaky or not.

 

Fact: VY is outta here. (birthers go nuts)

Opinion: Locker's not gonna be a franchiser.

 

As far as how long it takes Locker to crack the starting lineup, I think it depends on whether the players are to continue to be in the facility. Add to that, most Pac-10 schools, if not all, have graduation requirements that usually keep draftees from attending early OTAs.

A lot is still up in the air.
