If so, who do you think? I wouldn't mind trading down for Locker or waiting to take Mallett in the second if the Front Office is confident he'll be there.

Gabbert or Cam will fall to eight. If not they pull the trigger on Locker. It will be considered a reach.

I really think Gabbert or Cam will slip.

Mallett no, Locker absolutely. The tricky thing with Locker is that there will be two teams hoping we don't take him at 8. So unless we pull the trigger at 8, we're defiantly going to miss out on Jake Locker. Mallett has a good chance of being there at 39, but I'd be pissed if that's who we take at QB.

I think we have to go QB in the first if VY is out of the picture. Unless we are willing to just pretty much accept 2011 as a wasted season. The more and more I think about it... the more I think I'm okay with taking Locker 8th overall. Our back is kinda up against the wall here. Like PK says in the article, if we wait until the 2nd for a QB then we will probably just be left with scraps. Personally, I don't want our "QB of the future" to be the guy that just so happened to fall to us in the 2nd round. I want a guy the FO has real confidence in. If Locker is that guy, then snatch him up ASAP.

Cam won't, Carolina or Buffalo will take him. There is a good possibility that Gabbert does though. If he does, it will be interesting to see if we take him or Locker at #8.

Young has been officially out since they announced it a long time ago, it doesn't change anything. Anything other than what the organization said are rumors and speculation, all unbased in any facts. It is partly a money decision, he isn't worth the amount of money he would have been getting (to any team, not just us. 3 million more in base salary than Tom Brady). I'm sure that's a big part of the decision. And they knew nobody was going to trade for him and have to pay him that obscene amount of money, so they are probably making some half-hearted attempt at trading him, but they know he'll end up a free agent as soon as FA begins, and somebody will snatch him up for chicken feed (compared to what his contract pay was set to be with us).

I am still rooting for a QB in the 1st.

No. I do not think that guarantees we draft a QB in the first under any circumstance, even if every QB is still on the board at #8.

I don't know much about Gabbert to be honest..

I'm becoming more and more of a Locker fan. I just hope he can stay healthy.

I guess if we snag Locker with the 8th pick, I'll just look at it as that he would have easily been a top 5 pick last year. So apparently there is still alot of value in him.

He would have been considered the number one pick last year.

Cam is this year... go figure.
