If you are thinking of converting a CB to a safety I would prefer Jimmy Smith over PA

Yeah, I guess I'm just saying I would rather us pick the best player available than reach for a QB.

I like Jimmy Smith in the 2nd round. I just worry if he is physical enough for a SS. He just doesn't look that physical for his size in the highlights I have saw of him.

P.S. I'm not saying he doesn't have the size, he is 6'2" 210 or something like that. I just don't think he uses his size very well.

    1. All three of our CB's were burned repeatedly last season. IDK whether or not this was because the zone scheme or the lack of a pocket collapsing DT but when your passing defense is one of the bottom five you need to add talent to your secondary regardless of position.

    2. Both Finnegan and McCourty are in the last year of their contracts coming into the season. Our CB core has the potential to be a major issue next year and we can't be sure that we will have a chance to get a corner w/ top ten potential in 2012's draft.

    3. To get to the Super bowl we will have to go threw the Pats, Colts, Chargers, and Steelers, all of those teams have elite QB's. The NB spot is now as important as an OLB due to teams starting to carry ultra athletic TE's and explosive slot receivers. What I am trying to say is that is is literally impossible to have to many corners.

If Bowers, Peterson, Darius, and Miller are off of the board I would either try to trade back (Detriot's needs at OT and CB and the same as the Cowboys so I think they would trade up for Smith or Amukamara) or draft Prince Amukamara.

    He's Antrelle Rolle pt 2.

    How is he not overrated?

I wouldn't go that far calling him Antrell Rolle since the main reason Rolle is a S is because he isn't very fast (not exactly Peterson's problem). Exactly the reason we didn't draft him. Reese predicted he would end up being a S. But I do think Amakumura has a good chance of being a better shut down CB in the NFL.

Another benefit Peterson has which raises his value and ranking is his return ability. I think with that he is a legit top 10 pick but I agree I'm not sure he is going to be the great CB everyone thinks he is going to be. Pacman wasn't real bright, not nearly as big, but IMO his physical skills and return ability warranted where we picked him.

But I'm not sure Peterson wouldn't be more effective as a FS in the NFL. His ball skills and speed along with his size would be a nice combination.

Peterson will end up playing safety though due to his poor cover skills.

Guy made a few highlights, but he's not a cover corner.

I doubt he'll be returning kicks, so I think that lessens his value rather than adds to it. If the guy didn't return kicks, no way he'd be getting considered over Prince.
