Hasselbeck is better than Collins, I'm cool with this.

It all comes down to whether he would be a better mentor than Collins. I'm inclined to say yes, but I don't really know the answer to that. I don't think any of us do.

Either way, the role would be to start for 1 year and mentor a rookie who needs a bit of development. Hasselbeck would be just fine at that, I imagine.

Not to worry; No matter who we get, we will be no worse off than we have been for the last five years. So be happy we have choices!! And who knows, Palmer may just make a great QB out of Rusty!! Stranger things have happened in football! :D

Hmm. I'm not a VY fan, but that is not necessarily true. It can get much worse.

Hasselbeck doesnt suck.. he lit it up in the playoffs. He shown to be effective when the run game is gellin like most qbs would. With CJ and Britt i think he would be productive and ill take that for one yr then a bad one with Collins. Remember him with Alexander ? One of the top offenses.

So, let's replace our Young, mobile, injury-prone QB with an old, immobile, injury-prone QB? That would be a great move! NOT!

Don't get me wrong I've always like Hasselbeck but he's had his better days already.

    Vets:

    McNabb
    Palmer
    Orton
    Kolb

    Rookies:

    Locker
    Mallett
    Kaepernick
    Ponder
    Dalton

Living in Seattle and being exposed to a lot of Hasselbeck coverage, he's a really good dude and has an extraordinary work ethic. He's a Drew Brees type of QB that leads by example. Injuries, a generally poor offense and old age have caught up to him though and he's not very good anymore.

If I had to pick between him and KFC mentoring a new QB it would be a no brainer. That being said, I'm not sure if I want him starting. Maybe for a year and then making him the back-up? Not sure if he'd really be interested in that though.

I wouldn't mind picking him up if he came at a low cost.

    My ranking of veteran QBs:

    1) Palmer
    2) McNabb
    4) Hasselbeck
    3) Alex Smith
    5) Orton
    6) Kolb (assuming he goes for a 1st or a 2nd + 3rd)

What exactly does Hasselbeck give us that Collins doesn't? They're both one year fill-ins at best, over the hill, prone to throwing picks. If anything you could make the case that Collins is less injury prone and has an edge because he knows the playbook.

Either one being the starter day one means our season is essentially over, but the KFC hate has blinded some people.
