If we draft a QB that leads us to success how do we lost out? That was my point, just because VY is let go doesn't mean doom and gloom. Something positive can happen for both VY and the organization.

We lose out in 2011. I want to compete next year.

By keeping VY another season we get a chance to compete next year while also drafting for the future.

    The best of both worlds.

The Falcons, Ravens, and Jets in recent years have all disproved that theory. All made the playoffs with rookie QBs. The rams went from being the worst team in 2009, to competing for the playoffs with a rookie this year. Just because VY is gone does not mean we cannot compete. Now, if we were to go through the draft and not take a QB early, then we could have this talk, but as we stand now, there is noway to argue that we cannot compete with the QB we get, because we do not know who that will be.

I like being optimistic (sure you've noticed that in my posting) but I don't see us getting a QB who can lead us to a championship.

Still, why not keep a proven QB even if you get a stud rookie?

I want to win a championship, or atleast win the division.

Alright, just to play devils advocate, if you have a "stud" rookie that is ready to play, why would you want to keep VY? Replace him with a veteran back-up, and use the $10+ million saved to upgrade the other holes on the roster to help us make a run in the coming years. If you have a starter, you don't want to pay your back-up $12+ million.

You never know how a rookie is gonna turn out. That's why. Until they've played a game, you don't know how they're gonna do in the NFL.

So would you be willing to risk your entire season on a rookie QB?

If he comes in like Ryan and Sanchez did and takes control from day one, then absolutely I would.

Harbaugh was the coach of Josh Johnson when he played in college. Not even close to being Vince so I'm pretty sure he good work with Vince.

But I believe Minnesota is best anyway.

I had to add a few things since you decided to leave some stuff out to hurt your argument. You made it as negative as you can by only putting down the bad stuff.

2010 vs SD. He did get hurt but while he was in there he averaged over 25 yards per completion. The incompletions are not a bad thing if the QB is being pressured and it prevents sacks or INT's.

2009 one bad game and 1 good game.

2008 Check bolded type that I added above.

2007 No doubt a sophmore slump.

2006 ROY vs the second toughest schedule in the NFL.

But let's ignore all the good stuff Alex left out and that even those QB's like Manning and Rivers all have bad games against those top teams in the AFC. This is not just VY, this is all QB vs the best defensive teams have bad games. .

Yea and none of them teams have made it to the Superbowl. They surround those QB's with some of the best defenses in the league and they have far more aggressive coaches. Hell Ryan is like the most aggressive coach in the league.
