Jets release Gholston, Woody, Jenkins and Taylor..

I agree on the Kris Jenkins, Albert Haynesworth, Shaun Rogers, Marcus Stroud, John Henderson, Mean Joe Greene, Big Daddy Lipscomb, Art Donovan defensive tackle rotation that the forum wants, but...

...I wouldn't mind seeing a Vernon Gholston/Aaron Maybin type get a shot. Gholston is only 24 years old and obviously has some ability potential. Maybe he now knows what it takes to be successful in the NFL and all he needs is a fresh start. If it doesn't work out, cut him and move one. Nothing is really lost.

 

Gholston wasn't a starter. He might be worth a look as a 4-3 end (but he certainly sucked as a rushing OLB in the 3-4).

FWIW... three of these guys haven't actually been released yet, but chances are all or most will be (Woody is the only guy officially on the outs as of right now)

 

Gholston only played for the Jets (he didn't start, BTW) because they had so much money tied up in other defensive positions that they had no other choice. He is absolutely terrible. He was a workout warrior who can't play football. May as well bring back Chris Henry if you think Gholston is the kind of player who has potential and is worth bringing in.

 

One difference is that Chris Henry hardly saw the field at Arizona and struggled when he did. Gholston was an All-American and an absolute beast at Ohio State.

 

I thought Jason Taylor had a decent year in pass rushing situations (basically 3rd and long) but his legs are pretty much gone. what a weird off season this is gonna be

 

Jenkins was dominate these last couple years, until he got hurt (both years). Not saying the Titans should sign him, just saying he's still goood.

 

Dear Reinfeldt, please help erase the BAD!! name we've made for ourselves regarding Free Agency pick ups the past few years; and sign VERNON GHOLSTON!!

Just want to say I was adamant about Gholston being a bust. I have to say this due to all the ones I get right that people will purposely forget.

 

Purposely forget....or just plain forget because it's inconsequential.
