Can we make Babin a "non-exclusive" franchise player? I'm maybe up for that.

A non-exclusive franchise player can negotiate with other NFL teams, and if a deal is reached with another team, we get two first-round draft picks as compensation.

After thinking about our situation I think we should def try to get Babin back. Whose gonna step in and replace him if he's gone?

I don't think he's proven that he's a top 5 DE in this league but for our system he's a great fit. I don't feel that the penalties will be that big of an issue this year. The whole team was bad about penalties last year not just Babin.

We've gotta keep our core intact especially with all of the crazy stuff going on this offseason.

If we can get him for cheap, why not? If that requires letting him test the market, so be it. The franchise tag is not the option. It's probably in his best interest to play with coach Wash again, so I wouldn't be surprised (or disappointed) to see him go.

    Babin wants security?

I nave no problem offering him a 3yr deal at vet minimum per year.

His 2011 season was a flash in the pan. The highlight of a mediocre career.

No one would give 2 firsts for him so there is no point.

It's his style and limited skill-set that has me worried to keep him around. He's going to use his 2010 stats as leverage, and why shouldn't he. But breaking down what he does, just has me left wondering what he really thinks he's worth. He is aggressive, but sometimes too aggressive, and takes himself out of contention. He doesn't shed blocks well, and worst of all, he gets pushed off the ball, and can't recover. What does he imagine all that is worth? Also, how many of his sacks were a result of the OLB coming behind him to contain or force the play back inside?

seems that same question was asked when KVB left. Babin was a cheap pickup during FA. The Titans can get another one cheap who could put up the same numbers

can't imagine us paying him after we've let so many talented DL's go because they wanted that money.. (Kearse, KVB, Odom, Haynseworth.. etc)

While I'd agree if Washburn was here, I'm not so sure with the coaching changes. Washburn produced really good lineman and he also knew the "type" of player he was looking for who could fit into his system.

It will be interesting to see how the Dline does this year without him.
