VY is best option for success sooner than later. If new coaches want to win, he'll be back.

Orton wasn't benched because of his play, he was benched after a coaching change because the organization wanted to see what they had in Tebow once they fell out of the race for the playoffs. Now, saying that, he did have two poor games before that. The last game being the only one in the season he had more INTs then TDs.
I appreciate the civil discussion as well, you brought up actual stats over a season. To be honest, whether we will be better at the QB position next year is yet to be seen, depends on who we bring in. In my opinion though, getting rid of VY is going to be addition by subtraction. It may be a case where we have to take one step back to take 2 forward.
I honestly believe if we had kept McNair around for a few years for VY to learn behind things would have been different. He never learned how to be a pro. He was close to McNair and would have listened to his advice. Hopefully, whatever rookie we draft, we give that opportunity too. To learn behind an established veteran for a year or two.

We're only 2-3 players off from being contenders.

We need a solid O-Lineman to fill the gap (where Munch/Mathews feel the drop off was). We need a run stopping D Lineman to get penetration in the middle. We need a SS to come in and replace Hope.

If VY is our QB next year, we can focus on drafting these 3 positions in the 1st 3 rounds. We won't lose draft picks in a trade and we will still be able to draft a QB who can be groomed as a replacement and solid #2 behind VY.

I don't know why you mention that here. There can't be any trades between any of the teams until there is a new CBA and the lockout is averted.

i assume you mean be allowed to practice?

In which case, no, lockout means the owners are locking out all their organization's facilities

    (just worth making note)

since that really only changes about 2 games in post-realignment NFL schedule making, that's not necessarily a great thing.

All it means is that the variable component of our schedule ends up with buffalo and denver

We still have to play New Orleans, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, (and Indy twice)

Somebody had simply made a comment about why there is still discussion regarding VY. I said because Vince Young was technically still on the team. Even though the organization said they were going to trade him, a trade hadn't actually happened yet.

    Nothing more.

So I've heard. I have to believe that if he kept playing at a high level, he would have been allowed to finish the season. It's not just TD/Int ratio. His games were absolutely horrendous. 28 attempts and 9 completions against KC? Kerry Collins had a better showing against KC with a lesser receiving core just a few weeks later and that was a terrible game too. Then he followed that up with another horrible game at Arizona. I don't blame them for benching him for whatever excuse seems the most amicable. He will play at a high level again, but like Fisher pulling Vince in the Steelers game, it needed to be done. Orton has done this his whole career too. Don't know why he falls apart in the second half of every season, but he does.

If Vince would have only reached out to other pros that have already dealt with situations like he has, he may have not blown up at his coach. There's no doubt that he has a fragile psyche at best. If McNair were alive, who knows, maybe he picks up the phone.

I think this thread needs a bump. The "Rational Response Squad" is back.
