Eli has a ring because Tyree made the greatest catch in Superbowl history, McNair doesn't because Jones made the greatest tackle... One was favored by the Football Gods and one wasn't. Eli's decent.

This guy won't bring back Fisherball. He's going to bring back a QB centered offense. I don't know if it will be pass heavy, but it won't be Fisherball.

DRAFT CAM NEWTON AND LETS WIN A SUPERBOWLLLLLLLLLLLL...
But in all seriousness. If we could draft Cam, bring in Warren Moon since he has been tutoring him. Maybe that could could be the next Mcnair. And for people who are going to say he is the next Vince, go look at this kid throw the ball. He has amazing accuracy for a kid who played in the style of offense he did. Plus all the things Moon as said about him just makes me think we gotta do this. Palmer helped run a Run and Shoot offense when he was with the Oilers so lets put Cam back there with Britt, Williams, Cook, CJ. Maybe we can keep Moss? Draft us a lineman and go defense and lets do this.

How could anybody blame this guy on Couch's and Carr's failures? The only way you could even begin doing that would be if one or both of them went somewhere else and did great. Did they?

Couch had shoulder injuries that made him unable to throw the ball at an nfl level. He was still young when he was unable to even make the Packers as a third string guy. Palmer had nothing to do with Couch's failures.

As for Carr that is a no brainer. Palmer didn't even have Carr his rookie year and Carr has played with other coaches and sucked even worse. Carr's best season was when Palmer was there.

You have 2 Qbs one a low level 2nd string guy and another who is not even arena caliber and you blame Palmer for not developing them? A coach can tell a player the right things but if he can't play he can't play!

I'm luke warn about the hire but Munch wanted experience and this guy sure has that. He was a horrible head coach that is obvious and his work as an OC is mixed. He was head coach of an expansion team and an OC of an expansion team and neither team had a QB worth a damn.

His 97-98 Jags offenses with Mark Brunell and Jimmy Smith were top 10.

His Texan offenses for the most part sucked.

I think there are 10 guys i would want over this guy but the top 2 on my list were not available.

I think Dinger was an average OC and this guy will be an average OC.

This does indicate we will be drafting a QB at least by rd 2.

The offense will be balanced and Palmer will primarily design the passing game and Munch and Matthews will probably handle the running game.

    Grade C..

I want to comment on the age thing.

If Palmer was like Jim Washburn who is full of vinegar and energy, who rides a motorcycle across South Africa i would have no concerns. But my impression of Palmer is that he is as animated as a piece of toast.

I remember a 2000 game against the Browns when it was late in the season and snowy in Cleveland and Palmer was dressed on the sidelines like he was on the north pole. I remember Jerry Glanville who was doing commentary for CBS at the time noting the contrast between Eddie George and his bare arms and Palmer's excessive attire.

I just thought he was a soft coach the opposite of a guy like Tice. I hope that Munch and Matthews handle the running game because i don't think this guy knows what that is.

The bottom line is if he is healthy and energetic enough to put in the 15 hours a day then that's fine. the fact he was willing to be a head coach in a mikey mouse league suggests he still wants to coach and compete.

I stand corrected.. Re running game..

Palmers Hartford Colonials led the UFL in both passing yardage and rushing yardage. They averaged 21.25 points a game which was tied for 2nd in the 5 team league.

His team was 3-5 and tied for last in the league but the 2 teams with the best records were 5-3 and except for one game they were competitive.

Interesting that the top team in the league was coached by Jim Fassel. I wonder if Munch considered him for the job..
