His words were "They haven't had a quarterback in Tennessee since Steve McNair left, may he rest in peace." He didn't say "franchise QB"

Clearly he is saying that VY, KC, Simms, Rusty, etc are not quarterbacks of the caliber that he thinks an NFL team needs. Nor did he see a viable QB in the near future.

Whereas, I'd rather that he kept his mouth shut and moved on with his life, he didn't say anything to indicate that it was the coaching staff that led to his departure. Wash has been with the Titans a long time and has helped a lot of D-linemen make a lot of money. The guy knows how to coach and seems to be a good judge of talent so I respect his opinion.

WTF is everybody so worked up about? Washburn is gone. Vince will soon be gone. Why are we wasting life talking about a quote from Washburn who isn't here any more?

This is just some spin from Philly that works in the Nashville market area to make more Titans fans support the idea of gettting rid of Vince. (It also happens to "sell" a Philly story here in Nashville.) Yes- it was a clever piece of journalism because Washburn is more popular than Vince. Vince's merits have nothing to do with the intent or the outcome of the story. He will be gone also regardless.

IMO Washburn is just sore about how Vince's actions after the Washington game divided the team and brought Fisher down.

    Dude really?

It can only be taken ONE way.

"We haven't had a QB since McNair." That means he doesn't feel we've had a real QB since 2005. There is NO other way to take it.

Did I even say how I interpreted it? I'm not trying to spin this into some endorsement for Young either way. I'm presenting 2 ways you could interpret his quote.

You just like to argue, chill out.

I'm just pointing out you are completely wrong and interpreting the quote completely wrong.

He's not saying "we have no QB since McNair" because the only one on the roster is Rusty Smith (although technically VY is still on the roster).

I thought you claimed you could easily admit when you were wrong? What happened to that?

Do you understand this is not an argument? Can the discussion continue...

    So...

It's interesting that Washburn went to Philly where they have a mobile QB (and traditional backup). Philly's already a dangerous team, they're my early favorite for the NFC unless the Pack stay hot.

I think Washburn was one of the few bright spots in TN and I respect what he has to say.
