at this point he might as well have been.. The irony is that The Steelers had the best DC in the league at the time already on the job...

Hopefully fewell comes in so impressive they can't say no. I, as I'm sure many are, am familiar enough with this team to know familiarity as a HC requirement would not breed contentment in this case much less excitement.

I agree. I was reading up on these candidates.

Mularkey was a decent TE for over 9 years in the NFL, playing for the Vikings and Steelers. He had asst. coaching stints and OC with the Steelers, and work with the Dolphins, Bucs and Falcons. He coached the Bills to a 9-7 record his first year but went 5-11 his second (Losman v Holcombe QB controversy). He resigned (wasn't fired) when the Bills brought on Marv Levy in a consultant role.

Fewell doesn't have an NFL history as a player and not much as a coach. Hiring from within (Munchak, Dinger, McGinnis) is only a hair above being a lame duck coach. All the other assistants (that didn't leave) are likely to be retained. We should have extended Fisher if we are going to hire from within.

Mike Tomlin was the same way, no NFL history as a player, and even less Fewell as a coach (6 years total I believe). I think Fewell would be a breath of fresh air. I would rather have Mularkey then someone on the staff, but Fewell is easily my top choice.

What's remarkable to me is how anyone who worked for the Titans is automatically a Fisher lackey. It's just how sad it was that he had that much power that most of the staff were his yes-men by the time of his departure.

Munchak has proven loyalty to the Titans, not Fisher.

Also, what head coach in their right mind, Fisher lackey or not, would employ the same system that got their leader fired after 17 years? You'd be begging to get fired doing that.

I'm really tired of this argument. Let's not be so near-sighted. Our line wasn't up to par this season. But year in and year out over the last decade, Tennessee's offensive line has been among the top units in the NFL. And a whole lot of credit for that goes to Munchak.
