Finally something right. Maybe now people will understand gritty old players don't always make good coaches.

Who the hell is going to want to come coach here next year?

    This lame-duck HC situation sucks.

I agree with this 100% but if the cba is the only reason to keep fisher, give Mcginnis the job with a chance to earn the job!

Maybe a young talent who see's a better than average shot at a head coaching position sooner rather than later?

Cecil had been with the team since 2001. First as quality control and then safeties and DBs. So cecil did go through the normal channels for 7 years before being named DC. Just didn't work out.

Somebody mentioned Mangini, he has had few good defenses as a head coach and his only year as a Dc was in 2005 when the Pats were 26th in total D. Plus he will want to install a 3-4 and with just one year left on contract Fisher won't want to make radical changes like that.

Mora jr would be a good choice and he did improve the 49ers defense as coordinator from 99 to 03.

I don't think it is going to be Mcginnis. Fisher could have named him DC 2 years ago and named Cecil instead.

I had nothing to do with coaching philosophy Wash wanted a long term deal and could not get that here. no other reason.

I think Wash will have some influence with the Eagles defensive Philosophy and how they use their D-line.

Agreed completey. They showed some promise in the 8-2 finish and the 5-2 start, but looked totally lost the rest of the time.

Maybe Fisher is planning on playing the Bugs Bunny role where he coaches all positions.

Fisher has a master plan, but I bet it does not include change. What he is doing is sound, and he is always correct. Read some of these comments from the coaches leaving, and you almost think that fisher has problems with players and coaches. Fisher has an ego the size of texas, and that has created alot of his problems.

He will not hire anyone that takes the spotlight from him. So Mora and Mangini are out! They have been head coaches and may out talk him in the media, it will be within.
