That's if they are under contract but his contract is up so he can do whatever he wants.

3 wins at most next year if he leaves.

This would be a disaster if we lost Washburn at this time. Seriously, if this franchise has any hope of competing next year, keeping a master like Wash would be a priority.

Morgan will most likely be a huge bust if he doesn't have the guidance from Washburn. This just makes me hate Chuck Cecil even more. The guy is a joke.

Hardly. To think that a professional athlete playing on the defensive line can only reach his potential if coached by Jim Washburn is laughable.

Sure, the guy is a fantastic position coach, and I'd hate to see him go for a similar position elsewhere... But it's not the be-all-end-all of our franchise.

Doesn't matter how fast you rush the passer if you can't defend a Tight End or a quick pass.

I'm not sure why that would be some of the biggest negatives to come out of this past season were the lack of improvement from guys like Ford and Hayes. Hayes especially who seems to have not learned any new techniques since he got here.

Washburn reportedly loved jovan Haye's work ethic but couldn't get anything out of him and any improvement Marks' showed this year was mainly his own doing in the weight room.

I'm not saying Wash hasn't done a fine job but is any line coach that essential? A good coach yes but not a miracle worker.

If you view Washburn as that essential then credit Fisher for hiring him and keeping him around for 12 years.

These "talks" with the Eagles has to be because they are considering him for DC.

A guy like Washburn might actually be a better head coach than DC because you don't have to be a great X and Os guy as head coach. You organize, delegate and motivate and he might be better at that than strategy and calling the defenses.

Why would you possibly say that? Some guys are good players no matter who their position coach is.

It's WAY too early to make that assumption seeing how the guy was a legitimate mid first round pick, but Washburn is the master of getting guys to overachieve. If he goes, our 5th rounders (and we have plenty of them) on the d-line become exactly that... 5th rounders.

I can't blame Washburn, Munch or anyone else who has a family to feed to explore any options. But this might be no more than a message to Bud to get the 2011 contracts done. He's notorious for dragging his feet on re-signing the coaching staff.
