Fisher was good when Fisherball worked with McNair, Wycheck, Eddie, D-Mase, we have a team that isn't gonna thrive under that style anymore. I honestly don't think he's a bad coach, he's stubborn and doesn't adjust when he needs to. He hates going away from his "slow and steady wins the race" philosophy. When you don't have a good defense, you need to use your offensive power. If he's willing to utilize our best talents next year, then I'm up for giving him one last chance.

Maybe you should read the post I responded to first. I agree that both need to go, and am, quite frankly, sick and tired of trying to explain this chain of command issue with a new coach AND VY to folks who just don't want to get it (despite hearing the same thing now from Front Office Executives and former players with no direct ties to the situation).

    So, TIME WILL TELL.

Buck up. It's not as bad as you think, and your owner is not Al Davis.

One of two things appears to be going to happen. Let's examine the worst case for each:

    (1) You keep Fisher and get rid of Young. That might soothe your feelings if you really don't like Vince, but you could be at this same decision point on the coach in another year or two. But even in that worst case, that would only be a wasted year or two. It's not like the franchise would be scorched earth at the end of it.

    (2) You get rid of Fisher and keep Vince. That might soothe your feelings if you really don't like Fisher, but you could be at the same decision point on the quarterback in another year or two. But even in the worst case, that's just a waste year or two. It's not like the franchise would be scorched earth at the end of it.

See how similar the worst case for each is? If the team keeps Vince, it will be because the owner believes he has top level potential that has not been tapped. Bud could certainly be wrong about that, but the proof will be in the pudding. Adams is a grown man, he is not Al Davis, and he is not going to cling to Vince like some kewpie doll if Vince can't realize his assumed potential under a new coach.

Fisher could be a spent force in Nashvlle. Vince could be a fraud. It appears you're simply going to answer one of those questions over the next year or so. Root for your team and hope for the best in either case. But answering either question isn't going to wreck your franchise.

Never said he should/would be forced to play VY. Fisher never was (outside of 2 losing streaks) and his replacement won't be (unless he does on his own losing streak). No coach who understands the game would think they could continue losing without an owner stepping in eventually. That's life in the NFL.

I think Harbaugh probably winds up in SF, but I think Bud could lure him here. With Reinfeldt, Underwood and Dinger in his ear about VY I think Adams would give a new HC the option of what to do with Vince. This is the same owner that let Fisher continue to play Collins in 2008. He just wants to win.

    No... BUD WILL TELL.

I have no problem to see them both gone also... but IMO I would prefer that Fisher could finish his contract.

My real problem is Bud keeping VY while Fisher is send packing... that to me is a mistake and also think that's a little unfair.

OK we are on the same page then....not sure about keeping Fisher though. Next year will be a train wreck anyway at this point, just as well clean house and at least start moving in the right direction.

Here's the problem with letting Fisher finish his contract. Fisher won't finish his contract unless VY is off the team. So, if you keep Fisher, going into 2011 you are looking at having to fix major holes at QB,OL,DB, and DL. Basically every major position on the field will need work, and then you've still got the issue of lacking quality depth at WR, RB and LB. Basically, 2011 will be a rebuilding year with little hope of a playoff run. Then what do you do with Fisher? Do you renew his contract and give him another 4-5 years to groom another QB and rebuild the defense?

Fisher's only chance to succeed is to stick with VY and change his philosophy on offense and defense. This team has a lot of firepower that has the ability to mask the defense that is in bad need of a rebuild. Fisher isn't a coach who will do that though.

I think we're all about on the same page. I don't mind keeping VY if a new HC doesn't mind him. But I wouldn't have a problem just cleaning house entirely.

I think almost everyone here would be happy next year if any of these things happened:

    1) We go 10-6 with Fisher and Orton/Kolb/Rusty.

    2) We go 10-6 with Vince and Harbaugh/Garrett/Cowher

    3) We go 10-6 with McNabb and Mike Singletary.

We differ in our opinions how how likely each of those options are, but we all just want this drama over with. Get back to playing good football.

You will still have the same problems on the team... with Fisher or no Fisher.

Only change is you get to keep VY... but with his wonderlic test score you probably will need at least two more years for him to learn the new offense... :brow:
