He's gonna make 6.5 million next year if he isn't a coach and if he signs a deal with another team, the titans have to match the difference UP to 6.5 million.

Why would he coach next season when he can sign a multi million dollar deal with the NFL network, ESPN, CBS or Fox Sports and make 6.5 million on top of whatever they pay him for being an analyst? Does it work like that or am I missing something?

It's pretty amazing how getting fired will probably work out just fine for Fisher. He's gonna be laughing all the way to the bank if he decides to take a season off.

I almost prefer Jeff Fisher as an analyst... Why? Because Id like to hear his opinion of VY when we are 12-4 and on our way to the superbowl next season...

I could be wrong but doesn't this make more financial sense? It's gonna be fun to see the results of this poll.

I could care less what he does as long as he's out of Tennessee.

Although it would be hilarious to see what he has to say about Vince if he becomes a commentator...

It does work like that. I like the idea of him coming to USC, someone mentioned it in another thread. Financially, though, it would make sense to keep Fisher, release Young. But, that's just financially.

I also believe he will take one year off for that reason. There will in my opinion be a financial settlement that will pay Fisher well next year if not the whole $6.5M. Even though he is under contract i think they will talk him into resigning and will pay him well anyway to create the idea of no hard feelings and to make it seem like he wasn't fired.

And yes as eric said he can make that money and his money as an analyst on top of that. There is little motivation for him to coach again right away and after 17 straight years as head coach he would probably welcome the break.

Think they unfortunately might have burned some bridges there recently

Wow, um ok...you might want to put down the pipe on that one for a bit. This team unfortunately has a long way to go than just "new head coach" for that, especially for a 1 year turnaround

That all aside, you do pose an interesting question. There is a chance the money could be there for an analyst job, and he is a recognizable name amongst those involved with the sport and its media. That said, he also doesn't necessarily have the best "TV analyst persona;" he's very low spoken and doesn't seem to get as high energy as say someone like Gruden does in front of a camera (not that those things are indicative of anything else relating to experience or knowledge or expertise with football or its handling, it's just different people have different public speaking personas...especially towards forms of media)

That said, it'd really have to depend on what he wants to do. He may want to continue coaching and the option may be there. He might want to consider giving being an analyst a try or just taking a year off. While, yes an analyst job might be a more secure source of higher income - as opposed to that of coaching, where there are more numerous and varying situations presentable that can lead to one's instant termination - it really depends on where the person's desire lies.

Kennedy Pola? Nah, that was Kiffin more than USC. I think he'd seriously consider the job if he was unemployed and the job opened up.

I have looked up every site possible to get some details of Fisher's contract. All we know is that almost all that $6.5M is salary or all of it is salary.

That means he would be paid incrementally over the course of the year. He may be willing to take a lower amount that would be paid all at once now. That's what i'm thinking that they would offer him a check for $4M(I'm guessing) to resign and agree not to bash the organization and they in turn would say only nice things about him.

Such an agreement is best for both parties since Fisher wants to work as a coach elsewhere and the titans want prospective coaches to feel like they are an organization that treats their people right.

FYI if fisher takes another coaching job this year he would get paid any difference by the Titans only if his new team is paying him less than $6.5M. If they pay that amount or more the titans would owe him nothing.

Hopefully he'll go to Indy. That way he can bench Reggie Wayne and start Jason Tamme over Dallas Clark and run Joseph Addai up the middle 15-20 times a game.

Ok, I was unsure if your suggestion was "head coach at USC" or "come work for lane kiffin" intially.

I have a hard time though seeing Southern Cal clearing out Lane after just one year, any opinions of him, his coaching methods, or coaching ability aside.
