Fisher & Player Nicknames

Haha, I have noticed that too. After the first few I said, "this guys just making sh!+ up". And he was.

 

It has always sounded forced to me when he does it on his show or interviews. I never liked hearing him do that.

There is an ancient tradition/belief (Hebrew?) that if you name something then it is your possession. That may be true in this case with Fisher's personality and his desire for players to have nicknames.

 

Yeah it always seems forced coming from him. Did he really say "J Bab"? LMFAO

Damn homosexual coach, giving all these grown men pet names. I don't even wanna know what he calls Kerry Collins. Collinsy? Maybe sweetheart. LOL? IDK, just thinking about that makes me cringe.

 

If he called the team KC and the Sunshine Band I'd have a better understanding of those powder blue and white uniforms.

 

I've only heard him call Finnegan "Cort" and Griffin "Griff". I get what you're saying though, it is strange. It's like he's one of the guys. His own players call him a player's coach and I think it is just part of that. The nicknames are generated within the locker-room and I think Fisher just goes along with it. Andy Reid calls Desean Jackson "Peanut" and "Little Guy". He probably didn't come up with those on his own.

The one that gets me is "Cookie". I'm going to guess that Jared Cook either has been called that all his life, or the team gave him that name as part of his rookie hazing and he hasn't been able to shake it. I don't see how any grown man is cool with people calling him Cookie.

 

I wonder what his nickname for Nickey is. I'd love to hear what he's got for that one.
