Overall your list is a good starting point, so I will comment on each position:

QB - The only one I might want to keep is Rusty as a development, but he did look REALLY bad in his one outing...so I could see a complete housecleaning here.

RB - Pretty much agree, may want to see what the market is for Ringer, then look for a bigger back (I know, I know, Blount was here this season....).

WR - Agree with losing Gage, think we should dump Moss, agree with the rest.

    TE - Agree

OL - Agree with dumping Scott and Amano, may also want to dump Stewart.

DL - Dump Brown....also, I am not sold on Babin. He is fun to watch, but makes alot of bonehead penalties on the field.

LB - We need someone who can cover, and I think we need to look at dumping either McRath or Curran for this.

DB - I am ready to dump Finnegan...again, bonehead penalties, and he has not looked like a #1 corner this year. I think we keep McCourty instead, then look at the FA market. Agree with dumping Hope, and, depending on how "Longhorn - y" Griffin is, we may need to dump him also. Also, I think we dump Hood....he looked a little better than Harper in 09, but who wouldn't have?

Agree with keeping both Bironas and Kern....Kern has looked good this year.

Also agree with keeping coaching out of this...plenty of other places to discuss that.

i really dont get this. getting rid of all of your best players is not going to make your team better. i could definitly see a upgrade in a few spots but getting rid of all of your core players is not doing anything but making matters worse. most likely they are going to be replaced with rookies and unproven players so please feel free to explain how this is going to make the team better

Well I will take a shot...

Right now the makeup of our team is, at best, a team with flashes of brilliance on offense, extremely inconsistent defense (except for our consistent inability to stop screens or cover TEs), with a lack of leadership/maturity at our key skill position. We just lost 6 of our past 7 games on our way to a 6-10 season, and had our "leader" basically spend the last part of the season pouting because he was hurt, or the coach doesn't kiss his arse, or fans don't all worship him, or just because he did not think that he needed any more development time, or, will someone explain why. This is a team in disarray, and sometimes the best way to cure this is to cut out the core (which is rotten, IMO).

Yes this will result in a rough 1-2 season stretch, but it will also improve our later year upside potential IMO.

most of that can be fixed with a coach that knows what he is doing.

That is part of the "core", but I am respecting the thread creator's request here.

However, this problem is much deeper than that. When you have your franchise QB basically avoiding the lockerroom, both during the week and during games, it is a real problem (yes Fisher is partly responsible as well, but, come on...VY should grow a pair and show up for work...even if it is game prep and film study). When you have a team that seems to have fractured because the QB is off pouting somewhere instead of doing his job, this is much deeper than coaching.

Blaming coaching entirely is WAY too simplistic here.

true but thats VY im adressing the team as a whole. look at how badly the our offensive talent is being used. if we had a offensive mind like belichick we would have a top 10 or maybe even a top 5 offense. on D he has our CBs playing 10 yards off the ball, our DEs line up as wide as our corners, our blitz packages are that of a high school team. all of these things can be helped/fixed with a good coach.

your right about it being to simplistic but in general it has the biggest impact on a team

We'd have a lot of holes to fill, we'd need starters at SS, ROLB, and somewhere on the line depending on how they shuffle people around and QB obviously

You are missing my point...the problem with the VY drama has exposed something larger than just VY IMO. Players that allow something like that to have the impact it did are part of the problem also. This is part of the core that needs to be removed.

Also, the fact that CJ is getting hit behind the line of scrimmage ALOT all year is due to terrible O line play (hence my willingness to dump lineman).

My comment about the LB core should be self-explanatory...we currently have no LBs that can cover a TE. Tough to win many games like that.

My comment about Finny is due to his diminishing performance this year, coupled with his constant troublemaking, which really does us more harm than good IMO.

As I said earlier, basically this team is in disarray, and needs a core removal.

we just need a play maker at every position.

CJ is the RB play maker

Mariani is the ST play maker

Cook is the TE play maker

Britt is the WR Play maker

WE have no play maker on defense.

VY is a play maker at QB, but he is either hurt or isnt used correctly so he is pointless right now. so for now we have no QB play maker.

and we have no play maker at Coach.

    GET a Coach

    Get a QB

    Get a Defense

    problems solved.
