You are not a football fan if you jump ship.

The team you've followed since a kid is yours for life. Through relationships ,jobs everything.

You hope that your kids also follow your team.

There is no quitting the game no matter how bad your team sucks. You will fall in and out of love with them many times during your life.

Why would I want to stop being a Titans fan?

    That's a better question.

I can't imagine ever NOT being a fan of this team.

    I kind of disagree.

Grew up a Chargers fan from Foutsy to the draft of Ryan Leaf. And then I met the Tennessee Oilers.

    The rest is history

Yep, you gotta stick with your team through thick and thin.

However, I can understand OP's frustration about strongly disliking so many in the organization. I'm kinda in the same boat right now. Sure there are guys on the team I like, and coaches. Unfortunately the "faces of the franchise" have left a lot to be desired lately. And I'm mainly talking owner, coach and QB.

It's quite apparent that lately Bud has been putting his own quest for a championship ahead of what's actually best for the team and the fans. Of course I can understand where he's coming from. He is the owner after all and the Lombardi trophy has always eluded him. I know the guy loves football and would love to hoist that trophy before he meets his maker. But at some point you have to call a spade a spade and go in another direction even if it is going to set the team back a bit initially. A head coaching change has been long overdue. However, 40+ years as an NFL owner and no ring. He's certainly not without blame in the matter.

Jeff, eh, I've made my feelings about him clear ad nauseam. Moving on...

I supported Vince as long as I possibly could. But drama follows him like a shadow and it's hard to put it all off as coincidence. The guy is a couple years away from 30 and still has question marks about his maturity and dedication. All the talent in the world but this team needs a QB who is a true leader. One who can not only lead us to victory but one who can lead through the down times as well.

Then there's our defensive leader by default Cortland Finnegan. If he's not getting toasted then he's getting fined for his shenanigans. I'm still a fan of his and definitely appreciate everything he does for the community. But it is kinda sad that he's the most popular defensive player on our team. This team is in dire need of a true defensive leader who can also back up his talk on the field.

I could go on but the bottom line is there is in fact a ton of crap to complain about and be disappointed with. Even excluding the piss poor product on the field. But you gotta stick with them no matter what if the Titans are really your team. As someone said earlier, being there for the lows makes the highs all the better.

I'm a fan because I live in Indiana, and I am 1 hour closer to Nashville than to Indianapolis, so I am a Titans fan by default, geographically
just kidding. I jumped on ship in '99, when I was in the 8th grade.

I'm not a fan of the whole geography telling you who to root for. Hoosiers use it as the right to jump on ship of the Colts when they're good, but abandon them for the Bears or somebody else when they start sucking.

    I have to disagree.

I was a Bears fan as a kid. I am still a Bears fan but my fandom for the Bears is meaningless compared to the Titans.

Born in Nashville, grew up just outside of Nashville, returned to Nashville when I was 24, live in the city of Nashville now.

It was a no brainer that if Nashville ever got a pro football team, that would become my team.

Yeah I think the obvious exception is when your hometown didn't always have a team. I'd say most everyone here older than 20 had a favorite NFL team before the Oilers moved here.

Growing up in Houston it was a no brainer to root for the Oilers. In my opinion the best jerseys and logo in the NFL. If Houston had fielded a team after the Oilers left for Nashville sooner than the 6 years of persona non grata fandom I experienced it might have been different. As a side note, my dad worked as an Accountant for the Oilers in the early 80's and had a chance to really get to know Bud Adams. Houstonians today think that Bud was the reason the team left, but they forget to acknowledge they gave the man no choice but to leave. Have you seen how crappy the Astrodome is? All in all, I love Houston (Astros, Rockets) but I hate the Texans. They will never have the ability to win over a city like the Oilers did, and therefore, the Titans will always be my team.
