We all agree that the Titans franchise is at a low point in regards to obtaining wins and fielding a team with character and winning results. We all agree that the franchise is heading in the wrong direction toward that goal.

IMO the franchise is at a serious cross-roads. We have a coaching staff that up until recently, has produced only stability and not a Lombardi trophy. Our franchise QB has produced some results, but is not a stable leader. Recently, that franchise QB has crossed the line of insubordination. The owner has not directly addressed that insubordination and we are seeing signs of that effect among other players.

I honestly believe this franchise is going to spiral down to the depths that the Bengals, Lions, Browns and previously Raiders were experiencing over the past several years if two things don't happen.

First, we must release our insubordinate QB. His history of immaturity and ego-centric behavior speaks for itself. Other players must see that THE FRANCHISE doesn't tolerate players that are not willing to put the team above their own personal or emotional needs.

Second, we must release our head coach that has had 16+ seasons to produce a Lombard trophy. His history of playoff appearances and victories speaks for itself. The players must see that THE FRANCHISE is indeed interested in fielding those players and coaches that give the team the best chance to win.

For a long time I was baffled why this wasn't obvious to Bud Adams. His recents statements addressing the franchise's current status have led me to believe Bud Adams is not committed to putting what is in the best interest of THE FRANCHISE above his own personal needs. It has been speculated that Bud is interested in holding on to VY for some personal reasons and that he is more interested in running a financially successful organization than taking personnel and coaching risks to produce a Lombardi trophy.

Owners like Bob Craft and The Rooneys have shaped the identity of their FRANCHISES by not allowing their personal needs to dictate their business decisions. They have shaped their FRANCHISE'S identity by not tolerating player insubordination and releasing or trading certain popular and productive players that put their personal needs above the team's needs. They have shaped the winning identity of their FRANCHISES by demanding results IN ADDITION to stability from their coaching staff.

Let it be clear to all that our current troubles are NOT due to a VINCE YOUNG versus JEFF FISHER issue. They are both just pieces to a puzzle. BOTH ARE REPLACEABLE. Bud needs to go ahead and release them both to give the FRANCHISE the best shot at evolving into a perennial winner. To do that he must be willing to risk/accept he won't live to see the Lombardi hoisted by two-tone blue.

Can't disagree with anything you say above. However, in my opinion finding a coach is going to be easier than finding the franchise QB at this point. I'd much rather ride with Vince one more year under a new coach who lays down the law and puts Vince on notice that he's got a year to grow the hell up and be a leader or he'll be looking for a new team next year and likely be looking at backing someone up at that... Fisher can't be let go fast enough for me at this point tho'...

I agree, I have a hard time envisioning this franchise changing so much as to get us a Super Bowl. I also fear that we will end up as one of the long failing ones as you mentioned like the Lions and Raiders.

    But........I still hold onto hope.

They say that the night is always darkest right before the dawn, maybe the same will be true for the the Tennessee Titans. Maybe they are at their darkest right now, but the dawn is coming and we will see a re-newing of our franchise with fresh faces and a new energy that will satisfy us all.

I've been giving it a bit more thought since the game the other night and I think I'm ready for Fisher and VY both to go. It's time for wholesale changes in Tennessee. I've been buying season tickets for the past six years. I don't know if I can justify the purchase of more of this crap product. I'm black-out proof anyways. Why should I care? I'll just watch on TV. I'm not in the local market as I'm based in Chattanooga. The demand for psl's is so low right now they (mine) can't be sold for even close to face value. I don't want to throw good money after bad. I'd pay to see a new rookie hc and rookie qb. It would kind of be cool to be able to say I was there at the beginning of it all a few years from now.

The best hope of this happening is when Bud Adams is no longer in the owners chair.

Pretty much completely agree. I'm a little more hopeful that we can move forward with VY, but I agree that his actions have likely complicated finding a new coach. If we keep him I would like for Bud/Reinfeldt to announce that Vince will be suspended for 1 or 2 games... I think they need to address it. I'm not convinced cutting him is the only option, and I don't expect Bud would consider it. So we need to be realistic. In the end if we get rid of VY it's really nobody's fault but his own - he had this franchise ripe for the taking. I just want to win, and we have a lot of players that can get it done.

At this point I think it's almost certain that Fisher is gone. So now the only 2 questions are 1) who can we bring in and 2) who will be the QB? Bud didn't make a sound when Kerry started 10-0, and I expect if a new coach brings in a new QB (draft or vet) and that QB outplays VY then Bud won't intervene. I could see him addressing that with any coach prospects. I would hope he would, and I think any potential coach would bring it up.

The fact that Collins is pretty obviously done may make this easier. We need to bring in some QB as a backup at least. I think that leaves plenty of room for someone like a Cowher to work out with Bud what the VY expectations are. We get the best QB we can, and then we play the best QB we have. Simple as that. I see that as the safest and most realistic path out of this mess.

If we really wanted to light a fire under VY's butt we should bring in someone to compete for the starting job. It is a win-win situation either way. Vick/Klob or draft someone. If VY responds, you have trade bait either way.

I agree that it will be difficult to bring in a coach after the VY/Fisher situation.

We need an innovative coach.... This offense should be top-10.

Ha, if Cowher comes here you can pretty much count on KFC staying and a very Fisher-like approach to the game. The big difference would be that no way in hell Cowher puts a guy like Blounte on the PS.
As long as oft-injured glassjawed Vince is the team QB you MUST have that backup.

I think if Bud let's Fisher go and decides to keep VY then it should be Bud having the meeting with VY to lay down the law and let him know he has to grow up or go somewhere else. Fisher already has power over personnel and it has not worked with VY, so I cannot see a new coach having any effect on VY in that regard.

VY walks away feeling like he won if Fisher is let go. I vote for both being gone if we really want to move forward.

Absolutely agree that this is what SHOULD happen...but I have very little comfort level that it will.

It is beginning to sound like Bud is starting to sour on Fisher, so my prediction about Fisher lasting into 2011 may be incorrect. However, I do not think that Bud is going to have any type of "come to Jesus" talk with VY, nor will he dump VY. No matter what I want to have happen, the reality is that, with Fisher gone and VY still around, this becomes a team where VY is basically controlling the situation. Not many credible coaching candidates will want to have anything to do with that scenario. We will get a replacement coach, yes, but he will just be a yes man IMO.

At that point everything hinges on VY. I have made my opinion about VY's outlook (will he mature or not) already, but, my opinion aside, the fact is, that, assuming Bud keeps VY with Fisher gone and a Bud Adams/VY yes man as a coach, next year will truly be VY's make or break moment. All speculation about his ability (or lack thereof) to grow into a true leader will be vetted out by the end of the season.
