Do people really still believe the myth that Fisher refuses to play guys who have earned playing time? How do you guys explain Verner?

For every "example" of Fisher doing what you claim he does, there's a counter-example.

    Fisher plays his favorites.

So f your 'counter examples'. He obviously holds grudges and has a buddy-system.

    Uhh, what?

If McCourty hadn't broken his arm Verner would still be riding bench. If Gage hadn't hurt himself, Britt probably wouldn't have got a chance either.

Then there's the countless examples of Fisher putting Collins in prematurely and Harper playing the entire season last year. You can also add Fisher cutting Blount to the list of his talent gauging abilities too.

Edit: So if Cook completely outplays both Scaife and Stevens was Fisher still right?

Peyton could make any of our TE's look like pro bowlers. You shouldnt have to have a true gifted TE , a good QB can make a great TE. look at Tamme , he gonna have amazing stats by the end of the season.

This hurts. Bo or Cook are not going to step in and replace his role on the team. Most likely, we'll see more three WR formations than usual.

I see this as an unfortunate loss, but one which may create positive opportunities. We have talent at WR, and coming out 3-wide opens the field up (as PK has blogged about CJ's rushing numbers when we go 3-wide).

Stevens was playing because of his blocking and besides our running offense is not so great thanks to Amano so I don't see this is as a big lost.

Use Bo with does 5 yard routes that Stevens runs because of his lack of speed and use Cook as a WR/TE down the field.

After today everyone has to wonder what is up with Scaife.
He dropped two balls that bounced off his numbers. LAME!!! Franchise my $

Cook looked ok but he really is just a big receiver, not a TE.

Stevens who's blocking is awesome gets grief for not having good hands or for being slow.
When the ball gets near his hands he catches it. He laid out for a nice catch today showing his good hands.
As to speed he isn't fast but fast enough to get open as a tight end, the big lower body is what makes him a good blocker, but dragging all that down the field isn't going to happen.
I think the problem with Stevens is his route running, I can't figure out why he hasn't had better coaching to correct that. His cuts are often soft, I think the QBs don't know what he is doing since he doesn't cut with authority. That is something Bo is good at, he cuts hard showing his numbers or getting a hand up making a good target for the QB.
Stevens made a hard cut towards an open area of the field today and it resulted in a nice catch. I think he needs to be allowed to run more routes that work for big guys. Run to an opening instead of a fixed route against the zone and when the coverage is over the top sit down under it, both type of routes will allow him to use his big body to keep the defender screened from the ball. But he has to learn to get into his route and turn is upper body letting the qb know he's ready for it.
All the TEs have it tough since it takes a decent QB to throw most TE routes.
My solution, not very original I know a lot of people agree, get rid of Scaife, work on Steven's routes so he can be the 10-15 yard threat and get Cook out there more. Right now our tight ends are like beacons for the defense, no Stevens 80 pass play, Stevens on the field 80 percent run play, the defensive coordinators for the other teams must love it.
