Your optimism is admirable, sadly it's unrealistic and misguided, but still, admirable !

Have you watched this team play the last 4-5 weeks ? I have and making the playoffs and winning this division is about as far fetched a possibility as it gets. Besides, we win and Fisher probably sticks around another year regardless of what happens with VY, not sure I could stay a fan (after 34 years BTW) any longer if that happens...

If Britt's back we have a good chance......would like to see what this creates for CJ and our offense with Moss and Britt on the field. If we can't make it work I would have to lay this out on the coaches cause that's a lot of talent on the field right there.....

This may be the second worst division in the NFL. The way things are going, I'm expecting a 9-7 or 8-8 team to win it, 10-6 at the very best.

I watched an 0-6 Titans team who looked like the worst team in football run off an impressive win streak last season and this team doesn't even need to put together a string of wins like they did last year. So no it's not unrealistic and misguided

Vince has been the better play than Collins on a regular basis but when we give Collins protection he's shown he can still get it done.

His last performance was a joke but hardly surprising considering his finger injury.

'Fingers crossed'(not you Kerry!!) that he's healthy.

With Jones and Brown back we could bounce back.

    Even so........Die Fisher Die!!!!!:)

I agree (I am betting on 9-7 taking the division)...which is why, unbelievably, I still see us with a shot here. That being said, it all starts with a beat down of the Hags this Sunday. Every game from Sunday on is a playoff game for us...one and done. Blow this against the Hags Sunday and we are cooked.

Long shot...yes, but still a shot.

    "It's all lining up correct."

    I have to disagree.

I never went into this season thinking "If only VY and Fisher would act like children and VY would go to the IR, then Collins would be QB, and even with our decimated D-line and horrible defensive play in the middle of the season, we can still win our last games to win the division... It's all lining up correct"

    That said...

    Two things.

First; that 2008 team was not that different than it will be on Sunday, so you may be onto something there. When Collins strung together those 10 wins we (1) had a good D, and (2) had reliable special teams. Going into this weekends game we'll have a better D than last week, and Mariani/Bironas are playing well. It'll mainly come down to protection from Roos & Co..

Secondly, we don't need 10 wins to make the playoffs. But we do need 9 wins to be where we all want us to be (winning the Super Bowl). So who knows, maybe God has forgiven me for feeding that frog a mouthful of pellets when I was 10.

But the one biggest difference is the run game, and how we attack the defense. In 2008 Collins had the luxury of feeding two good RB's. Defense's knew the run was coming, but couldn't account for the change up between Smash & Dash. Now they key in on C.J., and play contain. That was fine back when we could force the ball up the middle, but now..... Well now we hope and pray Harris, Amano, and Scott can move defenders. So IMO it all falls on the O-Line this weekend.

Unfortunately our playoffs will also end about 5 weeks earlier than most teams.

Yes, when healthy, Collins can move the football. I believe in our D line's ability to get pressure when they aren't on the field 80 snaps. Our secondary can generally cover, and get turnovers. CJ can run. Scaife can moves the chains. Washington/Moss/Gage/Britt?/etc... are the best WR groups we've had in a long time.

But this O line sucks. Can't run block. Can't pass block. We've lost TWO quarterbacks to hand injuries because the line gets pushed into the backfield consistently. I don't see how Rusty Smith isn't under center again by the 3rd quarter. We'll see Simms before the end of the year.
