Fact is you let a very competent center go to send him a message about is commitment to the players association. The titans line has consistently blown chunks all year and many times it is Amano getting smoked in the middle.

Fisher got his way at the beginning of last season. Remember 0-6

Good point and since we are talking about Bud stepping in and screwing up the team maybe I should mention, in case everyone forgot, that Williams was Fisher's pick for the DC job but BUD stopped the deal from going through.

So basically that is two major screw ups. Drafting VY and not letting Williams come back as the DC. Right now I'd say the defense lacks the horses we had in 2008 which is one of the big reasons we can't stop anyone but Williams is a master at getting the most out of the talent he has. He did it well enough to sin a SB with average talent.

I'm not a huge fan of Fisher's ability from an Xs and Os standpoint but not letting him have the best coordinators he can pick makes it hard to completely blame him.

Now I wouldn't say Bud is anything close to Jerry Jones and his control freak attitude as an owner which is why I think it is crazy when people talk about Fisher going to Dallas. But it isn't so much the control the owner has but more the stupidity behind the decisions they do make when they make them. Hard to blame the coach when you sabotage his ability to coach. Also VY has been Bud's toy from the start. VY wasn't ready to play QB in the NFL and right now he is still lacking mentally and physically. He has shown improvement but he is still very immature. Fisher has had to deal with meltdowns and attitude from the one guy on the team that should be taking a leadership role.

The bottom line is if Bud leaves Fisher alone and he fails Bud has every right to blame Fisher. But if Bud sticks his nose into the mix he has to take some blame as well.

Fisher has had exactly two good defenses since 2004 with 7 first round defensive draft picks since 2000. Let's also ignore the fact that Fisher has more control than pretty much any other NFL coach.

comparing bud to jerry jones??? bud is not nearly the control freak that jerry is.

anyway i think you make a valid point about bud intervening with some of the staff/personel decisions but... its up to the coach to make the most out of what he has and if fish was truly a good coach he would alter the way the team plays to get the most out of his players.

Not to mention, half that argument is pretty much predicated on Fisher having to play Young, ignoring the fact that no matter how much control he allegedly has behind the scenes, it's not in Fisher's job description to ultimately decide on the quarterback, not as much as it is to develop and get the most out of that guy offensively. It's year five and NOW we have Kenny Britt and Randy Moss and Chris Johnson and still can't make use of them or get along? Being as much a cry-baby about it as Young was is still on Fisher, for making his disdain pretty transparent and just not playing to everyone's overall strengths until its too late.

The other half of that argument really goes back more to Fisher not wanting to retain Albert but play the scheme the same as if he really was still there in 2009, nevermind whether or not they could have been a little more generous than the $52-55M range they were reportedly within during negotiations back then.

Because I think the Titans would have been more successful last year despite Cecil with Albert, and after how they opened the season on defense, I know we'd be heading to the playoffs if we had him from last year or acquired him earlier this year.

Nope. It's more on Fisher. It's an all areas, all access, sort of infection.

If only there was a magic day when Fisher, Alan Lowry and Donnie Nickey could either be all-world and help bring the Titans a championship, or leave Nashville the same day.

Would you happen to have anymore facts that you would like to discuss about Bud Adams intervening with Jeff Fisher and his coaching tactics? If so, please post a link.

Also, you said "Does anyone really know how Bud operates", right? I don't know how he operates, but by the looks of things he isn't Jeff Fisher's shadow, is he? To me it seems like Fisher has the freedom to do what he wants, unlike the people Jerry Jones employs.

So basically, i'm just saying if he doesn't know what goes on, then he doesn't need to be accusing Bud of something like this. Understand?

Had Bud not intervened we would have had Matt Lienart instead of Vince Young.

    Think.

The Rams had a solid defense that season to go with that offense. Rams ranked #6. Titans #17.
