Obviously I agree he should've/could've handled it better, but can you blame him for getting frustrated? Vince is a special personality, and Fisher, from the beginning, hasn't handled him correctly. Vince never had a father figure growing up, and I'm sure that trusting a father figure (Fisher) is something that Vince values. Fisher never trusted Vince, and I can't see how anyone can argue that.

Not to slam other fans, but reading this post makes you sound like the 10 year old Oilers fan you used to be.

Fisher is a gutless coward? Really? The same guy who ran punt and kick returns for Mike Ditka? The same guy who instead of sitting around on IR in 1985 remade himself as a coach while still technically a player, earning a Super Bowl ring? Really?

Seriously, what did you want him to do with VY throwing a tantrum that clearly was gross insubordination to the entire operation? Would you like a coach like Wade Phillips who clearly lost his team? Or someone just standing around collecting a paycheck thinking that you can't being a championship home to a small market?

Guess what? Most of us don't get to pick the people who are our bosses in life. But you better kick some butt when asked or there will be consequences. VY belongs to an age of players (and people I might add) that clearly thinks his previous success should bring immediate entitlement. Bud Adams, a "greatest generation" guy is surprisingly not helping the situation. Fisher is cut from the Ditka mold and Ditka learned from George Halas himself. That lineage of football tutelage should normally teach a player well, assuming he wants to learn.

But VY hasn't really wanted to learn everything about being a top NFL QB. One thing for sure...he's lucky he's been in Tennessee. He wouldn't have lasted 2-3 seasons anywhere else, especially a place that has a harder fanbase and sportswriter community.

Again, I keep coming back to the original "60 Minutes" interview with VY. All the swagger, all the arrogance, none of the work ethic. Rusty Smith knows he has a week, maybe two to prove himself and he's already impressing the coaching staff by being the "1st to work, last to leave guy". He may throw a bunch of picks on Sunday, but you can't tell me he didn't work his butt off during the week.

Jeff Fisher is the problem? Really? One thing this town has never had is a truly pathetic team. Oh we've had mediocre teams, sure. This year we're certainly there right now. But we've never had a truly unsaveable team. You think the Buffalo fans have been happy for the last decade? Or Cleveland? St. Louis? Detroit? It's easy to be really bad in this league. We've never been that. The closest we came was last year. Yes we went with VY then but he wasn't the only change that was made.

In order to be a top team in this league, you have to start with a quality QB. One who makes great decisions, and the fewest mistakes. After that, everything else is easier. Where would Indy be this year if Manning wasn't playing? Probably 2-8 right now. They also have great leadership on the sidelines. Dallas has great talent but lousy leadership and they dropped to the bottom of the league.

Like Fisher or not, nobody who follows the league thinks he's not a leader of men. But he's been hobbled by a QB in recent years who shows flashes of greatness but can't be consistent about it, and every so often melts down in front of everyone. He's certainly progressed, but other QBs learn more and are trusted with a larger package of plays. I'm amazed his record is as good as it is, largely because of the supporting cast around him starting with the coach.

Fisher is paid to be a coach, not a father figure.

A "special personality"? That's another phrase for "entitled prima donna". You think that Fisher hasn't seen his share of "special personalities" in recent years? Pacman? Haynesworth? Please. I've had a number of bosses in my life and I lost my father when I was 4. I've never looked to anyone that I've had a professional relationship with as a potential father figure.

Actually, I take that back. My high school coach was that kind of figure, but guess what? He kicked my butt and called me out for being lazy when he thought I was slacking. That's what good coaches do.

Steve McNair was that, but I'm not sure VY was listening.

Finally, trust is earned and not just during the game.

this was the possession right before halftime v WAS
it's crap like this that disappoints me, not VY's winning %

not only did he not run out the clock (what I could have sworn he was trying to do with this retarded play) we gave them back the ball resulting in a FG attempt.
13 seconds off the clock, horrible if you're trying to get downfield with less than a minute remaining in the half from your own 20.

furthermore, wth is this idea that CJ is an 'up the middle' RB?
if you want to see CJ play more than 5 years, he'll need to play for another coach

I could not care less if CJ plays another down if it is not in a Titan uniform

You're right, he's being paid to coach. But as a coach, you have to be able to understand your players and guide them. Fisher never did that, and eventually forced VY off the deep end.

Please don't compare VY to Pacman or Haynesworth.

As a professional coach you're not required to have to teach your guys about life. That's what pop warner and high school is for. Your job as a professional football coach is to win games and make sure your players are in the best position to do that.

If VY is having daddy issues maybe he should see a shrink, not someone who wants to coach in the NFL.

    1. Win games? Hasn't done enough of that. Vince wins, however.
    2. Doesn't know how to utilize the talents he has.

    Goodbye Jeff.

Might or might not having anything to do with the idea of a father or lack thereof. Just saying.

You can stop right there...The Titan team at beginning of last year 0-6.Defeat to Patriot 59-0....That was truly pathetic. and was on a downhill roll!
